Yeah, it's true. It's also because fighters fight so ****ing rarely these days. A fighter loses his 0, and how long does it take to get another win, to get back on track? He might have 2 fights in a year. That's bull****. Another 5 or 6 wins in that time and everyone has forgotten the loss. But not after only 1 or 2 fights. Us fans worry about it too much. I'd rather watch Katsidis keep fighting guys he's not quite as good as, and putting on fantastic fights, than watch a guy being safely maneuvered around the sport. Unfortunately, that kind of thinking is getting rarer and rarer.
In some people's eye's one loss on your record and you are damaged goods. It puts pay to any risk being taken in match-ups. It's all about reward without risk in the 2000's.
Check out the old boxers, they would have losses, did not matter, they also fought a lot/often, unlike so many today!
doesn't make sense either. All great fighters are greater after being defeated. Floyd seems to think that keeping his undefeated record prove something, but it only proves he is ducking people.
You hit it on the head perfectly. A lot of people on ESB are guilty of this and whenever a boxer loses a tirade of abuse follows. There is no shame in losing if your up against a foe that is simply better than you. In fact, that boxer should get respect for stepping in a ring with a superior boxer. Thats why i have so much respect for a boxer like Froch, with his limited speed and reflexes, he doesnt give a damn who he faces and where, he will give it 100% and make it entertaining.
fans have to take the blame for this.well i say fans when i should say haters..both wlad and vitali klits have both lost but still managed to come back and look at them now.yet all ppl can do is critisize them for there defeats not what they have acheived despite there losses..same with adamak ppl think he sucks because he lost to dawson but again look at what he has acheived..these are just examples there are many more.but like i z fans seem to just bring up there losses not what they have done..fans have to take some blame but i do think the majority of blame has to go to promoters
This is exactly why I respected Ricky Hatton when he was fighting. He was a very limited fighter, but very good at what dimensions he was good at i.e. cutting off the ring, pressure, bodypunching and making it a vicious fight in close. He was far from the best, but he stepped in the ring with two of the best fighters of our generation. He lost both times and people threw abuse at him as 'chinny' 'overrated' and with a crap defence. Why? This is Pacquiao and Mayweather we're talking about. It doesn't get better than that. I'd like to see the people who said Hatton was **** because he lost those two times, get in the ring with May and Pac and see how they do. If you can't do better yourself, don't criticise and hurl insults, is the way I see it. Point out what a fighter could be better at, but don't insult him or challenge his courage, or his skill. Fighters at even D level are better fighters than almost the entire human population. It's simply about respect.
ur right man..hatton is a perfect example of fans being dickheads..i mean saying hatton should retire because he lost esp to the guys he did is ****ing outragous.
having a "0" in the loss column doesn't mean too much. i'm willing to bet most people posting here have a "0" in their loss column.
Doesn't help that people scream: Exp000000000000000000000000000000sed on here every time a fighter loses.
not really all the top 4 p4p guys have losses, Pacquiao, Donaire, Martinez, JMM, all have losses and are still the best at the sport.
