Adrian Diaconu and Chris Henry both made weight Saturday seven days in advance of their WBC Interim light-heavyweight championship fight in Bucharest. The fighters had to be within 5% percent of the 175 pound limit or 184 pounds and both got to the target weight with relative ease with Diaconu tipping the balance at 179.08 pounds while Henry was recorded by the Romanian Boxing Commission at 181.72 pounds. The fight goes Saturday afternoon in Canada and can be seen across the country on the TVA network.

Diaconu says that he doesn't have a message for his opponent. He says he'll do all his talking in the ring. He says: "We, Romanians are fed up of promisses; we want to see things happen. We'll see who is the best on the 19th."

Obreja, the guy speaking, the Romanian Boxing Federation President, says he is a bit worried noticing Henry is so sure of himself, calm and collected. He spoke with Diaconu who says: "Don't worry; I feel the same!"

I agree with Obreja; I won't underestimate Henry as a club fighter, etc., until I see him against a good opponent...Diaconu is good enough.

 

Just read in an article in the Romanian press quoting a trustworthy source that the WBC won't sanction a unification fight between Dawson and Tarver before Dawson fights the WBC Interim Champ. If Dawson decides to fight Tarver, he will get stripped, the Interim Champ will be declared WBC Champ and the new WBC Champ will be forced to defend against mandatory Glen Johnson, apparently.

So...if Diaconu wins against Henry, we'll see whether Dawson ends up ducking Diaconu successfully or not.

 

Damn, and i thought i had an ugly noggin. This guy looks like a boxer but he can't box. It's a cruel world.

You guys are underestimating Henry, I wouldn't be surprised if Henry wins.

 

If Dawson's chin is so bad than why couldn't Johnson knock him out when he landed some serious bombs on Dawson? Because Dawson has a really good chin. Dawson fought a sloppy fight, but he did have his moments though, and did good enough to win the fight. All Dawson needs to do is improve on his defense, I also think Dawson switching trainers affected him. Eddie Mustafa isn't a good trainer, he needs to go back to Bimingham or Floyd Mayweather Sr. If he doesn't though I still expect him to correct his mistakes. I expect Dawson to look way better against Henry or Diaconu.
