Saving face or throwing a joke offer right back to Floyd? Why didn't Floyd take the $45m offer?? It would've been his highest guaranteed purse EVER even to this day.

No, I said he was outboxed by Alvarado, which he was, and no, I'm not forgetting their first fight.

I already explained this. Pac was ducking by not taking the $40M offered to him, since it was his biggest pay day EVER! To save face, they countered $45M. It's all for not, it was never about the money for Pac, ahem "I'll fight for free". He was just flat out ducking then. He could have given that $40M to the less fortunate.

Who the F*CK would bow down and take $40m, after being accused of being a dirty cheat with no proof, to then let the egomaniac who'd accused you make over $100m??

People are looking at this from the wrong perspective.

    Manny's never made $40m.

But he wasn't going to be dictated too by Floyd. It's really not hard to understand.

    They both have big ego's.

Let's take a hypothetical look, if things had been vice versa?

What would the Mayweather's have said and done, if Roach and Manny had accused them of being dirty and demanded tests up to the day of the fight?

    Then what?

What if Manny had been undefeated and in Floyd's position?

What if Manny had offered Floyd $40m? Does anybody seriously think that Floyd would have accepted, after being accused of being dirty, to then let Manny make over $100m?

    No chance!

It was a f**king bull**** offer! If Floyd had seriously wanted to make the fight, he'd never have demanded the entire PPV share from what would have been the biggest grossing fight of all time.

There's so many idiots on this forum.

I agree, but it was due to circumstances. Pac was always going to fight someone like Rios. That's because he'd been out of the ring for over a year after his devastating knockout loss to JMM. Rios was a safe comeback fight. But I don't believe that Manny would have taken a year out and then fought Rios, if he'd have beaten JMM.

Loudon my good man! the 40 mill offer is more than 0 that he would get today with his charity bs! if money was not that important then why would he demand 50-50 3 years after he walked away from that deal. oh yeah he didnt want to bow down to Floyd and his drug testing, oh wait didnt floyd agree to 10mill/lb in that same deal.

its been 5 years since Manny walked away over drug testing and it is only now that he is pursuing a fight? people blame floyd for not doing more but he has done more than nothing . . .lol. Now manny is not only calling him out he was talking a trilogy! gee i wonder if that would be enough to take care of his tax problem?

Arum was already lining up Rios for Pacquiao since before the Marquez knockout. The only reason the fight was justifiable at all was because of the circumstances, but Top Rank was clearly angling for it regardless.

Seeing as the 40 mil offer was for the May 12' fight I think you should add Cotto and Bradley as well, all I'm saying is if we're talking money they say and by they I mean forbes, si, espn ect.. that Mayweather took home 40+ mil for Mosley, Ortiz, 50+ for Cotto, and damn near 80+ this year for just Alvarez. Pacquiao is not doing that, hopefully this whole tax issue is folly and Pacquiao can bounce back but ffs the guy had a 50/50 split in 10' and walked over drug test everything after that is irrelevant because until now everytime Pac personally made a statement his team would come out days later reneging saying we do not mean that, that's bs. At least Mayweather is more consistent everybody is on his ass because of him saying Pacquiao isn't next I ain't say that during the Ortiz build up but leave out him calling out Pacquiao for the next six months after the Ortiz fight.

We could of had Mayweather-Pacquiao instead of Mayweather-Cotto/Pacquiao-Bradley the 40 mil offer was just an out Mayweather gave them to duck out a fight without any backlash. An everyone hangs on it til this day ignoring the fact that Pacquiao really lost to Marquez in fight III before the 40 mil offer, to top it off he went on to lose to Bradley and get KO'd by Marquez that same year and probably didn't see 40 mil combined in those two fights

Floyd's fight with Oscar generated over $130m in PPV.

A Floyd Vs Manny fight would probably have been bigger, and the PPV price in 2009/2010 would have been significantly higher.

I've read a few links what said the fight had realistic expectations of grossing anywhere between $200-300m in total revenue.

It was a ridiculous offer by Floyd and he knew Manny was never going to accept. Only an idiot would believe that Floyd tried to make the fight, by offering the $40m.

Once again, it was a bull**** offer. There's no way Manny would have let Floyd made triple the amount. (Possibly more)

I'm not buying all the charity bull**** man.

But just go back to when Floyd made the offer. It was bull****. Manny's already said that they didn't even consider it because it was a joke. It's not like they thought about it long and hard, and then gave Floyd an answer. It was laughed off, because you can't negotiate with an egomaniac who makes ridiculous demands like that.

The fight stipulations were just two ego's trying to get the last word. But the weight penalty wouldn't have made any difference if it was a billion dollars per pound. Floyd's never had a weight issue in his life. But Manny was accused of being dirty, with no proof, and he had every right to not bow down to the cut off demands.

But the sad thing is, after Manny had dug his heels in, he then agreed to the cut off date. Now at that point, there was absolutely nothing stopping Floyd from agreeing. But he dug his heels in and said no. Manny changed his stance, and Floyd could have done the same.

But the whole PPV revenue was a joke. People were estimating that the fight could gross anything between $200-300m. So it shows you how serious Floyd was about trying to make the fight with his offer.

Fair enough if that was the case. I'd have been surprised to see it though.

The offer was for 2012, that's exactly why I didn't include their fight(s) on 2012. We have too look at what was on the table at the time. The thing is, we really don't know how much these guys are actually making unless they disclosed their earnings. Especially, Pacquiao who keeps his finances private compared to Mayweather, who likes flaunt it. During negotiations like Pac-May, it's all about the numbers.

Pac-Brad & May - Cotto is really off topic.

I knew, Pac wouldn't do well (PPV wise) against Bradley just because Bradley isn't popular not to mention the under card isn't good. I thought Mayweather would do well against Cotto (again PPV wise) because Cotto has a good fan base and don't forget about Saul Alvarez who help the event's number go up.

Regarding Pac - JMM III, we have different opinions of that. Pacquiao won easily against Bradley. If you believe other wise then let's agree to disagree.
