I think they definitely should have helped to make this fight happen, but you have to remember that them changing their protocol for this fight could be construed as an admission that their testing protocol sucks...Which it does.

    :goodThanks.

That's a total joke, as far as I recall. You and others started saying that junk, but I don't remember saying that. Maybe I did, but I doubt it. Just another 40+ year-old for Dawson.

    :(

If he took a substance for a fight in Nevada that's banned by the NSAC then he's a ****ing cheater.

Who knows. Apparently he's in the Philippines right now and Bob was running the show at the mediation. I bet manny's just ****ing stupid enough to believe Uncle Bob is looking out for anything but his own interests, too. :-(

Here's the deal, as far as I can tell:

Lidocaine appears to be banned for usage with boxing in the state of Nevada, at least. Banned for usage on fight night and a certain period of time leading up to the fight. It's considered a banned substance, or at least was in 2004.

Floyd has a doctor's prescription to use it, apparently. So maybe it's ok for him to use it by the commission, maybe not, in the time leading up to the fight. I don't know. Shannon Briggs has had issues with using prescription asthma medicine during his boxing career and, I think, he once received a 90-day ban for such medication.

The substance was definitely banned for boxing in 2004 in Nevada at the time of the ODLH-Hopkins fight. I think it's still banned. Just haven't had the time to track all of this down.

Oh, I made a TON of threads dissing Dawson, no doubt about that. I'm not denying that at all.

I'm just not sure about the Dawson-Johnson rematch thing, that's what I'm talking about.

maybe Pacquiao injected some of that **** in his own face so he could walk over Cotto's punches?

I am tired of this topic now its run its course and it just plain boring.

I do beleive that boxing does need too improve and upgrade its drug testing procedures as its too dated too keep up with the ability to test for new 'super drugs' that are available.

I don't beleive that one boxer can take it upon himself too demand that another boxer must take these test just too please him. Floyd isn't doing it for the good of boxing he's doing it to either a) get under mannys skin or b) make sure the fight dosn't happen. I can almost bet my bottom dollar that FM dosnt insist on a blood test for his next opponant so thats proof alone that he's only doing it too one individual rather than be a martyer for boxing.

Once Floyd decided he could play with the rules of Nevada the point actually becomes negotiable now, if (and I find it hard to believe) he is numbing his hands before fights it becomes fair game for negotiations along with the whole testing issue.

Let me ask a question. Start to finish, how long does it take to wrap and glove a fighter before a fight. When would these injections have to be given? The more I think about this the more it falls apart, at least for me, but I really know nothing about this.
