Newbie, you clearly dont understand boxing. Berto clearly has NO inside game and you can't grasp that.
Start watching boxing stop watching boxers and you'll get it. You guys want to invent new rules and excuses as you go.

Berto's inside game has nothing to do with the ref work, which is the point of the thread.

Ok, so you just proceeded to not even address what I said. I see. It's cause you have no argument. I even said as much, in the technical breakdown thread that SJS started, that Berto had no inside game, and that it was Guerrero's only real shot at winning. But maybe it's you that doesn't understand boxing, because holding and hitting is not legal. You're a ****boy, a worthless poster and just flat out wrong.

Unless you're coming back at me with some actual facts, I can deal without all the internet speech. Who the **** even says "newbie" anymore?:roll::patsch

A little holding here or there is fine, but just holding constantly like Berto did? I couldn't believe that he was warned or deducted, but he lost and has gone down in everyone's rankings. The guy does not have any inside game. He was on the backfoot all night against a fighter who is clearly a smaller guy.

The Knockdowns were legit, Guerrero was holding, but this was only because Berto would not LET GO.

Andre Berto is not an intelligent fighter.

ill tell you that i bet on berto last night and you are correct that guerrero illegally held berto while punching him that created the first knockdown and helped change the direction of the fight.

ill also tell you so what?

this is the hurt business and not ****ing checkers. it was clearly obvious that berto did not come into the first round or this fight for that matter in a war mode.

he was initially sparring with robert whereas guerrero was fighting.

and before andre knew it he was way behind on the cards.

the fault of this is either poor management, berto himself or a combination of both for bertos inability to be properly prepared for this fight.

robert guerrero did what he had to do to win the fight and andre berto did not. and now because of the beating that he sustained he assuredly lost a few fights out of his career...whatever is left of it.

and andre berto has no one to blame but himself.

I think he did the right thing by letting them fight out honestly. The truth is as much as we might not like it or as ugly as it can be at times. The ref shouldn't break the fighters unless both hands are free. I didnt write the Queensbury rules.

This. Guerrero was initiating all of the holding from the early through to middle rounds. The ref did nothing. Even Stevie Wonder would have spotted that.

And what was the point of your diatribe? This thread has to do with poor refereeing, right? Is it not a referee's job to enforce the rules? I mean, if it's not, let me know.

I agree. i know a lot of people have been critical of him, but he did a pretty decent job. It was an old-school fight, and he took an old-school approach in letting them go at it and fight out of clinches.

You clearly are lost in this argument. Rules are rules you dont pick and choose. If you have one free hand you fight out. What dont you get?

do i need to spell it out for you?

    okay then.

the ref had absolutely nothing to do with the outcome of the fight.
