But more importantly the reality of Great fighters, whom could have just as easily been Champions... Boxing has too many unfortunate Business, Nationalistic, Partisan, Ownership/management and money laden corruption facts, which took/stole from some of these other Top Contenders & fighters. I have very little regard anymore for Boxing in the Credential sense, once my innocence was lost and my eyes were opened to the Fact that Boxing is neither ran like a Sport or is a Sport, otherwise True Earned Opportunity would prevail... and it rarely does. Good Shout!
No, they fought for the UK. There are plenty of decent fighters from the 70s and 80s who were born in other generally Commonwealth countries that had their career in the UK. For what is worth (and as many found out later, not a lot), a person of the British Empire/Commonwealth was entitled to come and go from the ‘Motherland’ as they pleased until the 1960s. The one I struggle with is Ruby Robert, yes he was British born, but he was ‘a person of the world’, but so good I am sure every country who had the smallest of links to him, would claim him as their own!
It's entirely your choice.I confined myself to those born in the UK,of course that doesn't mean anyone else has to abide by that!
He mist likely did it, as Jeffries described in his book and his team was convinced about it. Normally you give after the fight credit, especially when you won. So there was no other reason for him to claim this, if he would be not very certain about this. And most boxers would hit hard with plaster of paris on your fists. He had not the technique nor speed to develop extraordinary power.
No, Sinan Samil Sam was born in Frankfurt am Main, but was Turkish. The place your are born doesn't define the nationality, otherwise would be Hide Nigerian, Kasparow Azerbaidjanian and Myrkel Hamburgian (west-German). He was a child when he left England and last no day of his adult life there.
