I don't think toying with your opponent compares to being punched out, losing your Title, and getting dropped by a flying kick. Not to mention coming out bloodied and bruised in almost every fight. If Anderson Silva is the more talented fighter with more Title defenses and a longer win streak I don't see why he is not both the Greater and better fighter. Being the P4P best, whether it be current or in the long run, is not all about the names in your win column... A resume isn't something to be cherry picked, it's a summarization. But, don't take my word for it just look it up!

I've said over and over again that we can't hold it against Anderson Silva for beating the best in the MW division and not having some Great former Champs to go with it (Everyone in the Top 10 is Great). Winning is all that is asked of a competitor. For crying out loud, these two are in the premiere organization of the World... They didn't duck the best like Fedor did.

Anderson Silva is the Greatest since because he puts more distance between him and his Challengers, along with all the reasons above. We had this discussion a few weeks ago so please don't hold it against me for responding... I didn't raise the question, I didn't create a thread on the subject at hand. I'm not asking for the same turn out, or looking for a ugly response, but I will give my piece so long as this is being talked about.

 

Devils Advocate there though is that the only people GSP has finished since 2005 are Matt Hughes and 2 former and natural LWs. It's truth. While Anderson has been inconsistent with his performances, when he's been on his game, he's finished his guys.

Anderson is way ahead of everyone now as GOAT and like everyone has mentioned He goes in the ring semi disinterested. You ever seen him flipping tires or swinging hammers while training? He couldnt give a fck.

Guy mowing down tough LHWs like they dont deserve to be in with him and yes Forrest and Bonnar are two of the toughest mofos out there who got wrecked by a bored Silva.

 

Well said, good read, enjoyed it , was well summed up, Silva is hands down the best ATG ever IMO and that includes Fedor. Plus i dont even like Silva that much, lol , plus i dont think Silva is unbeatable, i just think he is the best because he has proven to be the best.

GSP is not even close, he is second for sure, but i dont see this question like splitting hairs. Silva without doubt the best fighter since Fedor and GSP second. There are so many reasons it i find it incredable that so many can feel GSP over Silva and i really like GSP, lol

 

So when Fedor fought in Pride which was the premiere organization at the time and not ducking anyone doesnt count anymore now that the ufc is the leading organization?

 

Fedor lost 3 fights in 3 different ways in America. I am a big Fedor fan but that does kind of shine a negative light on his run in Pride in my opinion. How can it not? whether it was a doping issue, the level of competition or even were some of the fights works. Not a popular thing to say I admit, but I think it does raise a few legitimate questions. Let's face it there were some rumors flying around about Pride that were kind of backed up by his, and other Pride fighters, spell in the US.

 

Of course not, but around the time he was fighting Sylvia, AA, The UFC was the premiere organization in the World and he obviously wanted no part of Lesnar, JDS, Velasquez, Frank Mir, Kongo and the like. Now Anderson Silva and a handful of other Pride fighters jumped right in the mix, and all but one fell to the wayside. I believe fighting the best in the World across two eras and riding a 16 fight win streak in this one is one of the reasons why Anderson Silva is the greatest ever, but that's a whole other headache to deal with on here.

Know that Fedor used his weight, his muscle, his name to get paid big money while avoiding a row of HW Contenders. I'm not so sure if losing inside The UFC would have stung as much, but it was ultimately his choice after some advice from M1. Like Floyd Mayweather and Cotto, Fedor is an adult. If he wanted the biggest challenges he could've had them.

Big Nog is still very relevant in the HW division, and Prime Fedor mopped the floor with a Prime Nog. I think that shines a positive light on how great Prime Fedor was to be honest.

The truth of Fedor is when he was in his prime, he didn't "duck" the best competition in the world, he dominated it.

By the time the power lines shifted to the UFC, he was already WAY past him "mental prime" and past his "physical prime". There is no doubt he ducked the UFC later, but it was a business decision. He didn't need them. He made more money and was able to cherry pick fights. To be honest, he earned that right. Just like many UFC fighters earn the right to continue to make money in big events, way after they are still relevant in their divisions. (Tito, Rampage, Hughes, Liddell, Franklin, Bonnar, etc etc) :deal

His legacy was established a long time ago, and he earned his legacy the same way Cain Velazquez and JDS will earn theirs. :good

Too me fedor shouldn't even be a ATG. He fought too many damn bums. What does a win over Tim sylvia prove? not a ****ing thing. and who is brett rogers? I think Dan Hendo should be list. He has face many many high caliber fighters in different weight classess.
