Froch has a chin and a big punch.. He's like a rich man's Andrade in a sense that he isn't the most skilled but he can absorb punches and come back with his own offense.. A fighter like that has a good chance to beat anybody.
Just Balzay and Abraham off that list. I'm really just guessing that he could beat Balzay; don't know much about the guy. He'd beat Abraham for the same reason Pavlik would; you have to stay off the ropes against these two. That's one of the few things that Pavlik and Froch have in common. Bika or Andrade against Froch would be 50/50. Bute, Dawson, and Hopkins, each in their own way, all box far to well for Froch to have much of a chance. Calzaghe? Forget about it. I am a JC hater, but that does not change the fact that Joe is a freaking machine. Four or five rounds in Joe would crank the heat up, and at about 9-10 rounds either the ref or Carl's corner would take pity on him, and call a halt to this mismatch. Pavlik/Froch: Kelly has fought about 13 times above 160, but he's never been a true SMW, always a blown up middle. Assuming that he did the right things to add 8 pounds of lean muscle, it's a basic, simple fight. Jab-jab-jab, throw the right over that low left, back Froch up, and knock him out. Very similar to the Miranda fight, only Miranda probably hits harder, and has better defense.
He' not a light heavy so Hopkins and Calzaghe are irrelevant at 175. I think he'd beat them all with possible exception of Kessler who is a beast
Size. Bute also has skills, speed, southpaw, slick. Andrade has a relentless 3 minute pressure with a good punch.
Pavlik cannot add lean muslce as his trainer knows Jack **** other than flipping tyres or chopping wood (good techniques if you're already in shape) If Pavlik came straight at Froch he'd be backed up within seconds. Pavlik didn't seem a big hitter in the 2nd JT fight, and although Froch is going to pose none of the problems that Pavlik had against B-Hop, like Pavlik he is a steady, heavy-handed puncher. He would be wearing Pavlik down just as Pavlik would be trying to wear him down, and although Pavlik throws more, he has a weak chin compared to Froch and doesn't create the angles Froch does. Bad matchup for Kelly, Froch by K.O around the 10th. By the way, Pavlik's jab, jab right would only hit Abraham's tight defence, and if Taylor and Hopkins can wobble Pavlik, Abraham can stop him. It won't happen anyway. If it happens at 168 I'd definitely give the edge to Abraham, who destroyed Miranda far worse than Pavlik did. He seemed healthier, faster, and didn't just hit Miranda whilst his back was against the ropes. If it took 7 or so rounds against Rubio, Pavlik will need to step it up if he's to beat Abraham or Froch, who are light years ahead of a man who was previously K.O'd in under a minute :good
Pavlik is a half inch taller than both Bute and Andrade. Yeah, they really dwarf him, don't they? Bute isn't as skilled as Taylor, and Pavlik beat him convincingly. Andrade probably has a better chin than Pavlik, but his work rate isn't any better. Against Tsypko he was hardly storming the bloke; Pavlik threw over 700 punches against Rubio. Next?
Pavlik caan't carry his weight to save his life over 160.He losses everything, speed, power, footwork over 160. Bute is at least as skilled as Taylor and Pavlik beat him easily when Taylor fought a stupid fight standing and trading. When Taylor adjusted he did better. Pavlik's workrate over 160 is ****.
You could probably give the same insults to Enzo Calzaghe. For a fighter who unrelentingly gobs off about his strength, Froch might as well have been a barbie doll in there; he didn't back Taylor up once in the fight. Pavlik was hurting Taylor constantly, breaking him down with the jab and was fundamentally in control of both fights. It took Froch twelve rounds to even get within light years of Taylor, but Pavlik was jogging him with right hands constantly. Considering it took about 20 bombs from JT to even put Pavlik on his knees, but it only took three shots to put Froch on his ass, I wouldn't start talking about chins. It took AA two fights to beat Miranda, and when he finally beat him he did it with a lunging, telegraphed hook. Pavlik, on the other hand, systemaically and methodically dominated him and broke him down in 7 rounds.
He's full of **** for calling out Calzaghe, Joe would kill him as would Allan Green, Pavlik, Kessler etc. Maybe he should callout Lacy instead.....
Thanks Shamrock -- you're response to Fleaman saved me a **** load of typing. I would only add that this crap about Pavlik not looking good over 160 is a myth perpetuated by haters. He had a 101 degree fever one day, and went 12 with Bernard ****ing Hopkins the next, and, with injuries to both hands, he scored a very clear UD over the man who beat BHop twice. The rest of his fights over 160 were either KO's or one sided shellackings. I'd call that looking pretty good. Froch has the perfect style to make Pavlik look like an absolute monster. I'm starting to want this fight more than any other match up in boxing.
Pimp C and BigReg doubling up again......but hang on, why did they not pick Froch to also beat Dawson?:huh Very strange that...:think
