Just that he can beat Rhodes, that's it.

The biggest paper champion of all time has to be Valuev. Gifted the belt after he lost it, defended it via robbery vs 46 y old man, lost it to an unproven cruiserweight moving up to heavy.

^ Yes. (Although I kind of like & respect Valuev, regardless.)

Also: Michael Moorer. He just came along at the exact right time, and had the championship lifespan of a fruitfly.

He was literally handed the title, without even having to fight for a vacant title. That fight was his first defence. Not that it was his fault.

When they are awarded titles they do not deserve and sometimes don't even have to fight for they are spitting in the face of all the fighters with more talent who work their balls of, take risks and still never get the same opportunities. They are also making a mockery of the sport.

Ricky Burns. I struggle to look at him as a world champ

Probably the biggest paper champ of all time for how he is viewed would possibly go to Jones Jnr

Yes, but this is rare.. And again, they do not decide it..
Stieglitz for example, he fights and trains hard to keep his title..
Valuev got his title handed to him the 2nd time and got some gifts..
But he fought of best ability and was always humbe and a gent..
I dont think that a boxer ever forgets the great night when he won his first world title.. And then all these "experts" "boxing guru's", "mr.know-it-all" types comes and takes things away from them..

thats not an excuse there still paper champions to be called a champion you have to beat legitimate opponents instead of fighting lower weight guys who have no business fighting for a ''world title'' don't give me that **** about work ethic all boxers work hard, train hard and live the clean life. If you dont see the disgrace in a bum like matthew hatton competing for a world title at a division above his natural weight against some1 built as the next star of boxing then you really need help.

Mikkel Kessler. If he beats Stieglitz he'll be a 5 time champion lol. Hasnt beat a A level opponent once in his career.

that is right! They all had to win the title fight to get the belt!
Lots of those so called "paper champs" dont get a chance to fight your "favourite" boxers as your guys dont want to fight them as they dont bring money...What boxing needs is sport motive not cash motive!
