Well im sure if they show a leniency towards the British promoters fighter they have a better opportunity of landing more/ bigger gigs.

How many times did Micky Vann referee Hatton early in his career ? Eamon Magee even complained about it before their fight.

A promoter is going to use a "tame" referee more often than he uses one that he feels is "awkward", theres no denying that and you can always point to the odd iffy decision but I don't think its a) anything that doesn't happen in most other countries or b) anything that hasn't gone on for years.

Just because other countries do things and we've done it for years does not mean we should fail to demand more from our refs.

These guys should be wearing clown suits in the ring. It's not REALLY a hugely difficult job like being a football ref. The rules are there, its fairly elementary stuff that they **** up.

Thats true, but there are a number of posts in here seeming to imply that we are the worst or the only "offenders" and/ or that its a modern day problem.

There are problems but its nowhere near as bad as some people are making out, certainly not of "clowning" proportions and I don't think British boxing needs to don a hair shirt as penance for the state of its reffing.

Sack Parris as a compromise. I can't say I'm overly enamoured with some of the others but he is the biggest offender by far for pure bias, corruption and choosing which fighter he likes the look of and then favouring him for the duration.

I put him second only to the Belgian that reffed Reid-Sven.

I think Parris is at the stage that Cortez was at last year, his credibility is gone and even if he gets his act together theres just been too much water under the bridge for him to regain it.

It def. harder job in the YouTube/ internet era. Look at the Rogan-Sexton fight, Parris wasn't that poor (it has to be said he was'nt that great either), but because it was Parris on a Warren bill he got slaughtered on the forums. 10-15 years ago that reffing perfomance would have passed largely without comment.

That's life in all sports, everything moves forward. The coverage is better. We demand better standards.

He was awful in Rogan-Sexton. Nearly everything he touched turned to turd. He kept pulling Rogan up on very minor offences. Then...Rogan hurts this guy, so I'm thinking we're at a key stage of the fight, then Sexton turns away from the punches and Rogan is blamed, Sexton gets vital time. :patsch Then the ****er spits his gumshield out and Parris does not even notice and wastes more time.

**** him and **** the BBBoC for allowing this ****.

Sexton was turned by the punches, he didn't away from them on purpose. Rogan then hit the back of the head and got a talking to about it.

Sexton spat out his gumshield, the fact Parris missed it is to Rogans advanatge because the procedure is to stop the fight at an appropriate point and replace the gumshield.

One thing that no ones been able to explain in this cosy little Parris/ Warren/ Sexton conspiracy theory is why Warren would want Rogan, who puts bums on seats in Ireland, to lose to Sexton who no one gives a **** about?

I havn't really been thinking about corruption in this one. I think Dave is keeping a low profile after hanging off Hatton's jock. I'd call it rank incompetence.

It's not only this fight recently, I thought he was horrible in the Williams/McDermott I.
