The biggest problem with British boxing?

If there is a proper rankings system in place, or even a form of quality control over the opponents. Trouble is, are the best Aussies, Canadians and others even interested in the title anymore?

It seems to have slipped to the level of an area title...... by definition, a Commonwealth title ought to be bigger than a British one, but if you compare the respective champions I'd wager that most of the British ones are better.

Do the same with the European and I'd say it would be the opposite.

Since the Murray vs McAllister undercard I have been going on about scoring something silly, dodgy 10-10 rounds being found to give the house fighter a victory.

I must admit I nearly got off the sofa and went to the kitchen toward the end of that 4th round, expecting a 39-38 score, but he surprised me and scored the fight how it was.

WBU is not really a factor any more.

Commonwealth title serves a purpose.

The other 3 are problems with boxing in general not just british.

 

Fair play to him seen those fights go the other way more than enough :good

 

Strange this one. The Brits don't really need it but some fighters still go for it.

What other belts do the Canadians or South African boxers really go for.

The canadians have the NABA but most prospects don't even bother.
The South Africans only have their national title but seem to find themselves walking into IBF title fights.

 

What about the great Southern Area title?

 

Is it now used as a tool by promoters who have two fighters in the same weight division..... i.e. to keep them apart?

Hennessy had Elcock as British champion and Barker with the Commonwealth......

Also the Thaxton/Murray situation, though that was the EBU title.
