Again, I agree. This is a lose/lose fight for Haye as far as I'm concerned. I'm not saying that it is a forgone conclusion but if Haye wants to make a big mark on the world scene he has to perform really well to gain the kudos that he needs.

I just think that the Americans need to be convinced - I don't know why, as they have no real legitimate contenders, but still seem to hold themselves as the true measure of HW boxing.

Haye seemed gassed against Valuev. A fight in which he threw 7 punches.
Ruiz will try and work for 3 mins of every round he's in there.
Be interesting to see how Haye copes.

I respect John Ruiz and this fight could be allot tougher then most people think.Haye should be to fast and powerful for Ruiz but if he can`t get him out of there and Ruiz keeps the pressure on and makes Haye work at a pace he is not comfortable with it could be along hard nights work for Haye.
If it is a points win for Haye it would still be a good result imo. This fight will tell us allot more about Haye as an heavyweight and I'm looking forward to seeing it.

In, unfortunately, a sport where top echelon fighters avoid each other on a regular basis John Ruiz is adding David Haye to his list of big name fighters hes mixed it with- Holyfield, Valuev, Toney, Rahman, RJJ, Tucker, Tua, Chagaev etc and sure he hasnt come off best in a fair number but its a good testament to his character that he doesnt shirk a challenge. The Klitschkos have avoided him, Lennox didnt want that fight back in the day b4 Mccall beat him so the main guys know he's a dangerous fighter.

In the ring hes a spoiling brawling pain in the a*** but out of it a respectable decent bloke who clearly works hard to stay in the mix 4 over a decade. Fair play Quiet man you're aaaaalright

I think Ruiz gets discredited because of his boring style rather than his achievents. No-one has looked good against him except for Tua, and that was a complete aberration.

When since has Ruiz looked close to getting stopped?

He's got a good jab, punches well in combination when he chooses to, hits harder than people expect - ****, he decked Holyfield and stiffened a roid-ed up Toney briefly.

He's a decent operator - still one of the best HWs out there. I'd pick him to beat Arreola and the likes comfortably.

2 time Champ can't be ignored but I thought he looked terrible in his last fight. Way too slow for Haye.
An absolute gent out of the ring. He gets my respect for that alone.
