What do you think would have happened personally i see no difference ultimately but this question implies you do what do you see being the difference if Cus lives until 2000.

What if....Montreal was Duran vs Hearns :think

Does a peaking WW Duran last longer against the Hitman? Personally i think Hearns is all wrong for Duran, and beats him at least 9 times out of 10. But Tommy was vulnerable at Welter, didnt didnt no how to clinch when hurt

 

Duran was bad for Leonard
Leonard was bad for Hagler
Hagler was bad for Hearns &
Hearns was bad for Duran

each of the fab4 had their kryptonite & they were all beaten by it.

 

Well, considering Duran was the smallest guy (really a LW fighting big welters and the MW champion), surely he was the greatest :yep

I do agree tho, Tommy ALWAYS beats Roberto......unfortunately

 

Yes, because as a former lightweight he clearly fell short big time against the best Welters/Middles that came a whole decade after his best years

Just like Cuevas, Duran is tailor made for Tommy.

 

What does this have to do with Duran and his apologists making every excuse under the sun as a reason for his losses?


There's an inconsistency with Doo-ran and his followers - one that involves him supposedly not being motivated for established elites like Leonard,Benitez and Hearns,yet highly motivated and ready to poke a relatively green Davey Moore in the eye.

 

Relatively green, but beat Kalule in his last fight, after being outclassed thoroughly. Moore was a good fighter.

I'd expect Duran to be able to beat him. I don't believe that him losing to the guys who lost to is that big a deal. I would say it's more than fair to say he was unmotivated for Laing however ;-)

 

ok, but look at the difference in performances for a start. I mean he did BEAT an elite in Leonard did he not? And in the second fight, he clearly wasnt at his best. Why? Because Ray made him miss all night and was schooling him? This actually wasnt the case as Leonard was only 2 rounds up one 1 scorecard, and up 1 round on the other 2. Yes Ray made the adjustment, but Duran cearly wasnt right in the head. Dont forget, when he beat Ray he already had won 71 fights (losing only once to a guy he beat twice after). Perhaps when he fought these elite fighters he was on the slide after a 12 year career.

Then, while waaaaaaaaaaay past his best and at a weight that never suited him, he turned in great performances against Moore, Hagler and Barkley.

If anything, people dont appricate this guy enough! I mean watch the Palomino fight. The guy was a genius

 

I would say Duran definitely gets his due Vano ;-)

WHAT IF..........

Ray Mancini hadn't fought Duko (name, spelling:think:huh) Kim, would we still have 15 round fights and how many big fights would of had different outcomes...........

 

I imagine it would've got pulled eventually, but Leonard-Hagler would've been a lot better

i think that tyson would have been an unreal champion rather than a hit and miss champion that he was once cus had passed away, and mike moved away from kevin rooney and into the grasp of don king and all his bull****..........tyson wouldnt of been allowed to do half the stuff he done if cus was still alive he just wouldnt allow it......mike respected cus and would have done anything the man asked of him.......

tyson would have been a better champion and a better, more rounded man if cus had of lived until 2000.
