just named three with videos, how meny do you think, are actually good on that list? My friend, out of that list, all of them were amateur standouts back in Cuba and they all have some sort of high accomplishment like either a World Championship or Junior World Championship. The best of that list include: Erislandy Lara ( future World Champ ), Luis Franco ( future World Champ ), lightheavy Despaigne is a monster, Luis " el Leon " Garcia is possibly the best middleweight prospect today, Angelo Santana ( the only white one ) is a fierce boxer with great amateur pedigree, Yunier Dorticos is an awesome cruiser with his speed, height and amateur pedigree, Yudel Johnson does'nt pocess much power but can box the ears out of anyone as he is Olympic Silver Medalist and southpaw, Sullivan Barrera was an awesome amateur from Cuba but he is just starting his career along with Humberto Savigne, but they are almost 30 years old, so it's hard to say if they will go far, Ismaikel Perez looks like a young Mike Tyson ( look him up in youtube ) in the Heavyweights but has a lot to learn, Alexei Acosta who is just 21 just like Santana and Dorticos is a great prospect at lightweight with great amateur background and accomplishments, Rances Barthelemy ( the brother of Olympic Gold Medalist who did'nt had what it take for the pros Yan Barthelemy ) is actually way better than his brother at lightweight I believe he can go very far with dedication. In conclusion, they are all very solid prospects but the best hands down or the ones that can actually win World Titles I believe are #1, Erislandy Lara, Yuriorkis Gamboa ( already making waves ), Odlanier Solis WBC #3, Yordanis Despaigne, Luis Franco, Alexei Acosta, Luis Garcia, Yunier Dorticos and Angelo Santana! In reality, this is the best times hands down for the Cubans as this is when we have had the most Cuban star defectors staying and competing in the pros! Before, we only had like Casamayor, Hurtado, Juan Carlos Gomez, and the rest of them ( in Team Freedom, around 6 or 7 ) never made it due to undiscipline and because of the fact that they were nothing special back in Cuba except for Garbey. But the ones fighting today, almost all of them were stars back in Cuba. The Cubans are now rejoycing! And if this trend of defectors continues, and more and more Cubans continue to defect things will indeed get very interesting. Oh, I forgot to mention Yuriorkis Gamboa's younger brother Yoelvis who is also very similarly to his phenom brother but a lot younger. :happy
Peter Quillin may be American by birth, but he feels very Cuban due to his Father being Afro-Cuban! Believe me, if he wears the Cuban flag on his boxing trunks is because he considers himself Cuban! :thumbsup
Jonathan Gonzalez seems to have heavy hands. But they need to teach him some boxing. Damn!! Luis "El Artesano" Cruz seems very promising!!
Great boxing shool!! But most of them never make it big. I hope they do good. but we have to wait and see.
Yes he does, we have some good prospects coming up. The future looks good for the island, we breed champions.:thumbsup
Juan Manuel Lopez Ivan Calderon Roman Martinez Cesar Seda Jr John Ruiz Fres Oquendo Francisco Palacios Alex De Jesus Luis "El Artesano" Cruz Jonathan Gonzalez Luis Del Valle Carlos Negron Pretty much Puerto Ricos list. Does it beat the Cubans list LOL
Ricky, the reason that many of the past Cubans defectors from Team Freedom never made any impact in the pros was #1, they were nothing special back in Cuba ( examples, Ivan Ledon, Eliceo and Eliecer Castillo, Rene Valdez, Jorge Luis Gonzalez ( was beaten by the 3 major Cuban HV's of his era, Gonzalez defeated Stevenson when Teo was close to retirement ) Mario Iribarren, Barthelemy etc. Out of the past Cuban defectors of Team Freedom the only ones that actually were " solid stars " in Cuba were, Joel Casamayor ( former WBA World Champion, 2 times World Champion, Ramon Ledon, Ramon Garbey, Juan Carlos Gomez and the only ones who captured Glory in the pros were Casamayor, Hurtado and Gomez. The rest were C and D fighters in Cuba and remained the same over here. That and combined with undiscipline it's the second reason as to why they failed. Now of the current Cuban defectors, the story is completely different! The Cubans have today around 16 defectors that were Cuban stars back in Cuba. Examples, Yuriorkis Gamboa, Erislandy Lara, Odlanier Solis, Luis Franco, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Yunier Dorticos, Yordanis Despaigne, Yudel Johnson, Luis Garcia, Alexei Acosta and Angelo Santana etc. The only problem they face is the new life adjustment and the new free World Temptations. If they manage to stay focused, train hard and SAY NO to alcohol, drugs and women then they can also be World Champions in the pros! Thanks for your support! Look for the Cubans to have at least 4 to 5 Major solid World Champions in around 2011 !!!:happy
Rican, hola amigo. Well, do you actually think that those are the only Boricuas fighting today or do you meant that they are the current best Boricua prospects? :think
Best bro, Im not naming all of them bro, NO WAY !! I also forgot Carlos Negron, the main guy, he looks to be the best out of all of them, if Juanmas really a dud, and I putting a bet Luis Del valle could be a sleeper hit.
Oh Ok, well all the best to your fighters also...Seems to me that the best of Puerto Rico is JuanMa, but he has an extremely tough battle coming from Yuriorkis Gamboa if they ever meet! Saludos!
don't forget about Hector Sanchez, he's been fighting guys with a LOT of experience. Slight frame that he can grow into, 6'1 140, just beat Chop Chop not long ago...could have some p4p potential.
Yeah, like a 3rd round KO than the PR flag raised :rofl sort of like this This content is protected that will offically set this PR vs Cuba **** off !! :hi:
