Do we really think Algieri won't have the pride to put in a good shift? Not convinced he's coming to lose myself (even if he is off the pace with ring rust). Expect a fairly close fight and oddly wide cards in favour of Benn (in usual matchroom style).
The narrative is painfully obvious and laughable. Throw in an IFL interview with Benn the day after 'you look at what I did to him Koogz, nobody has done that to him and he's been in with X, Y and Z' and a bit of arse licking from Bellew and the Matchroom mugs have successfully been swindled for another week.
What he gains is a rematch, if you get my drift. If Benn stops Algieri, he will probably claim he is better than Pacquiao because he stopped Algieri when Pacquiao didn't.
Algieri just doesn't strike me as the type to take a backhander and let Conor win. So if he has anything left, this will be interesting. The version that fought Pac and Khan annihilates Benn...not so sure about the version who had a hard(ish) time with Coyle
Yeah exactly they’ve got 0 problem putting him in with a mover but they don’t want to put him in with a puncher and I think we all know why!!!
Algieri will be turning up with a Molina like attitude. First sign of coming under pressure (probably first round) and he'll fold and go down holding the back of his head. This will be easy work for Benn.
I think Benn's biggest weakness is his chin, as seen in the fight against that French guy. Algieri, from what I remember, isn't a massive puncher. Therefore, with his youth, Benn should win comfortably but I do still see Algieri hanging around and being active.
Interesting fight, if Algieri puts a shift in. I don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion. If Algieri starts to fancy it, and he is one tough fighter, I think Benn has his work cut out. I still think Benn wins, but it has the ingredients to be a cracker. I hope so anyway, fingers crossed.
I do not understand the need to speak up Algieri. Conor Benn wins this "showcase" without any problems.
Waste of a fight this….Benn going for 56-0 then out him in with top class and woops!!! Fair play if he took on tough fights but this is showbiz at its very best.
....and then do not forget that Eddie Hearn can stand after every single Conor Benn "showcase" and tell about all the great battles that lie in wait for Conor Benn in the future.
Listening to Bunce with Barry Jones on the BBC podcast, they were agreeing it's great matchmaking for Benn's career. The more I listen to that pod, the more it sounds like a shilling exercise for Matchroom (whilst allowing room for BT where Bunce works anyway).
Disagree with this. I can’t see him going early, unless it’s a Matchroom stoppage of course when Benn is rushing him.
