That's exactly what I expect bud. First round, swarm him and the ref jumps in and stops it like they did with Vargas. Then Benn jumps on the corner, punching his chest and screaming 'PPV baby'.
No. They will find another has been for him to face. Facing names and faded guys has a place for the younger fighters and if Benn had another couple of faded former belt holders that's not the end of the world for fights 20,21,22 but to me it just seem we are watching a Kell Brook career where he has plenty of opponents but limited quality.
Avanesyan is 33, I suspect the second he starts to show decline Hearn will be lining up that fight for 6 months to a year down the line just to be sure that Conor gets him at the right time to create the narrative that he's beaten the guy that stopped Josh Kelly. He'll probably have Broner lined up after that too, there's a load of 147 fighters that are getting past it and Hearn is going to be rubbing his hands together, this really is the Welterweight Eubank Jnr in motion.
I have a feeling that after this fight, the new rhetoric will be that Benn needs more exposure in the US before a big fight and a fight with a Victor Ortiz or Guerrero is back in the reckoning.
It's a well known fact that Benn, Hearn and Tony Sims regularly study the Boxrec 147 rankings from 2009.
Don't have an issue with Benn fighting Algieri. Even a past it version of Algieri is an improvement over his previous opposition. As long as every opponent he fight is a continued step up in quality.
You must have Linford Christie as favourite to win gold in the 100 metres at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
That is a good point besides the pay day he gains nothing. It is not like he will get a world title shot or get the winner of Khan Brook considering Khan beat him. I think Algerie see's this a safe pay day where he won't get badly hurt like he would against Ennis or Virgil Ortiz.
Hearn's been giving interviews today where he reckons Benn is 2/3 fights away from a Ennis/Ortiz. Laughable. He also only mentioned one name for Benn's next fight and says he's spoken to Broner to see where he is at. As unlikely as I think that fight is, the build up would be a showcase alone, AB would have Hearn and Benn on strings, absolutely no way would either of them know how to deal with him. I remember Ellerbe's face when AB unloaded on him, the man's a loose cannon.
