    who is he?

in a period of time where we have the best era of heavyweights in our history, why hasnt this pretnder put forward one of our guys as a contender for a shot. sure they may be a wildcard. but a guy like lapai has legit ko power and could pull off anything on his day.

knowing that we have the strongest contingent of heavies in our history, it would be a real shame, if during this period, we cant get one a shot at a world title, or at least a commonwealth title.

surely the poms remember we are part of the commonwealth? there is no ratings system for the comm title. so how does the governing body decide when a fighter from a commonwealth country deserves a shot? do they ever think of the good for a country, and the good of boxing it might do for that country? god knows we need it.

leapai, meehan, browne (dont know much about him) demori (a ko waiting to happen) sol (if you can get him in the ring) and SBW (if he ever gets some ring time) are all worthy of a shot at a comm title.

if there is a comm rep in oz, hes not doing his ****en job..

Browne is being steered towards the commonwealth title I believe. The Anbf can't run there own title properly, how in hell are they going to get commonwealth shots for the guys.

Yeah Hatton seems to be a shrewd marketer. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the eventual plan.

It makes sense, and you'd think Ricky Hatton would have the clout to make it happen if Lucas Browne can string some wins together.

Just hope they don't feed him a long line of cannon fodder, then send him in over his head for the shot. His next fight needs to be a decent step up. someone like Towers or Sexton.

I get the impression they'll just throw him another easybeat. But I hope I'm wrong in thinking that.

Should be interesting to see what Ricky Hatton's next course of action is as a promoter, now that his promotional company has no more dates on Sky Sports.

I've heard Hatton is signing a big deal. Lucas is still learning and Ricky isn't going to rush him. With Hatton behind him Lucas has more potential than any of our heavys.

The thread starter in one breath states how great the Aussie boxing scene is then in his next starts dismantling all of Alex"s rivals , the reason ya heavies ain't getting shots at the commonwealth is because your fighters fight for those pan asian titles to get themselves higher world rankings than the commonwealth rankings give . You probably won't even be in the commonwealth in 10 years time anyway who gives a flying **** if your heavies ain't getting a short at its title , ps remember how it turned out for you the last time you sent an over hyped lard arse up here ? Say what you like about Lucas at least he is willing to travel .

Its all true though ,, they won't fight each other , they chase bull**** belts and titles ,, they only fight guys brought to be ko'ed ,, I think they can find themselves lucky there not on the top poms hit lists , cos they would'nt last too long

I think he would trouble most Commonwealth level heavies at the moment , Hatton been in the sport a long time and obviously ain't as keen as most to dismiss his chances , I reckon his handlers know now the route you got to take to get a shot of the title and I hope it comes off for all involved . BTW lads what's the story with Lucas down under ? You lads don't seem too keen on him , is there any specific reason for the negative comments that surround the bloke every time his name is mentioned on the board ?
