Without trying to be provocative, is it you who's saying that they are 'trapped' or them? Are you the spokesperson for all Cuban boxers, or just trying to be inflammatory?

After all, most people living in their homeland don't consider themseves 'trapped'. Do you live in Cuba or are you yourself perhaps a 'defector' as you put it, or a US-Cuban.

That said, without a doubt Cuba is per-capita the greatest boxing nation on earth, and moves towards greater integration between the Ams and Pros by AIBA will surely bear this out over the coming years.

    Mi amigo ...

I am not saying that every single Cuban fighter right now is great as that's not accurate. But what I am trying to say is that out of a very small group of defectors ( Cubans that have escaped the communist system ) the Cubans have produced a couple of world class Champions, P4P fighters and other title holders.

    Example:

Guillermo Rigondeaux = Unified Champion and top P4P fighter.
Yuriorkis Gamboa = former Unified Champion, P4P fighter and current Interim Champ.
Yoan Pablo Hernandez = IBF Cruiserweight Champion.
Richard Abril = WBA lightweight Champion.

And other top Cuban fighters like Erislandy Lara, Salinas, Alexei Collado, Yunieski Gonzalez etc could be grabbing World Titles next. Out of a very small group the Cubans are shining and that's a fact. Not all of them are Champion nor P4P material but many are and that's my point. If Cuba was 100% free to compete in professional sports the impact would be even greater ... one day we will see that!

Yes, it's me saying that they are trapped and that's because they are living in a country with no liberty and oppression.
