Not sure what you're hoping to accomplish by overgeneralizing two different groups of people into one. Why would you think the very same people hyping up certain fighters are then the same ones bashing them when they lose?? Obviously the ones bashing are those who were trying to tell them the fighters they are hyping are not all that, and are having their fun when they get proven right in their assumption they are not world beaters. Not much purpose for this post other than to over generalize people, and then down them, to make yourself appear better, smarter, or greater than etc.

Most fans feel betrayed by their guy for letting them down when he loses, and turn on them, its human nature, its like politics everyone loves their guy until he loses, and then his supporters viciously bash him as a bad candidate, ask John Kerry and Mitt Romney about that.

There are two groups the hypers and the hyper bashers, but a lot of hypers do occasionally drop their guy like a bad habit and become bashers, "I never liked him" its a very high school tendency a lot of fans have.

I was the first thread I started back in June, I've tried to reign in my pompous tendencies since then.:D

I agree with the Op about some people not really continuing to be fans of certain fighters after they lose. You should still support them, losing happens in all sports, i still support Froch,Maidana,Lucas,Bradley,Ruslan,JMM etc.

I don't know what you're talking about and highly doubt it's human nature. I have never hyped a fighter then bashed them when they lost and am so convinced that's not the norm I would have to see some evidence of this.

You're not a hypocrite and I'm not talking about someone like you, some people on here have done that though, or at the very least they pretend like they were never fans to begin with and disappear for a few days. It happens sometimes with some posters.

I don't know, you're probably right and people do it, it sure does seem that way at times. It's very often hard to see beyond your own eyes.

I think overhyping in general comes from people just wanting a basis from to talk trash/troll from. I think many times the guys doing are not serious in the first place, don't take themselves serious, and therefore, don't expect anyone else to take them serious. So if they are backtracking directly on what they said, it's not like they fee any shame about it because they were never serious anyway. And maybe that's why I don't notice it, I don't take them serious, who knows.

Either that or people are just really shallow, and have no loyalty whatsoever, which could be the case as well.

Imagine what would have happened to Ray Leonard's career if he was fighting now a days and lost to Duran?
