It's more to do with skill than weight.

When Hatton can't bully his opponents he struggles, thats the top and bottom of it.

disagree . he is too small for a welter weight, therefore he can't bully the other guy. its common sense. are you saying collazo is better than kostya tszyu ?

no but its still got the same basic desire to run down calzaghes career path. comparing it to hattons makes no difference, the reason you're doing it is still the same.

I have given Hatton credit time and time again for his best achievements and it annoys me when people discredit the wins against Castillo and particularly Tsyzu, when so many, the vast majority, on here thought he would be mincemeat for both.

However, I have to look at things analytically. He DID duck Mayweather at 140 and I have provided a link pretty much saying as much. He DID wait until the best possible time to fight him that wouldn't have damaged his credibility at 140 and marketability in general....

That being said, I think Collazo is a pretty decent win when many use it as a stick to beat him.

I'm not a huge Hatton fan (though I once was), but I do try and be objective when it comes to his achievements and career choices. And I'm just offering my honest opinion...

At least I'm aware of certain facts...such as that there weren't any spare World Titles for JC to pick up during the heyday of DM and RJJ and that Hatton and Mayweather were in the same division in 2005...and of course, that there was a huge call for that fight to take place for 3 of the 4 belts at that time....unlike some. :yep

Of course it had to do with money, or more specifically with perceived risk v reward.

I don't believe I've ever said anything different.

What it brings into focus though are the fact that things are never black and white like you like to believe.

If Hopkins had signed the contract in 2002, why would that change your view of Joe Calzaghe's ambition (which is what I believe you are talking about, rather than ability, resume, etc)? Calzaghe had no control over Hopkins signing or not. If Mayweather had said 'get lost shorty' to Hatton in 2007 and decided that Miguel Cotto was a better option for him, why would that change your view of Hatton's ambition? Hatton would have been able to do nothing about that.

Your basic problem is that you have no appreciation of nuance. Everything has to be black or white, good or bad.

most people don't like it though do they ? you've admitted numerous times you only do it to wind calzaghe fans up. why you're still getting enjoyment out of it after how many months is a mystery . i think people are now fully aware you think calzaghes " resume " is **** and you dont like him as a man or a fighter, move on.

and i'm gonna look at a thread involving two boxers i thouroughly respect and admire arent i ?

I think he does it to try and attain some sort of notoriety on the boards...thats fair enough. Bit sad, but hey, whatever floats his boat.

These subtleties and nuances and intricate worldviews always seem to help old Joe, don't they? Weird that. :D

Those same nuances don't change the fact that CALZAGHE NEVER PURSUED A FIGHT WITH JONES FROM 1997 TILL 2004. All the delicate subtleties and nuances so far brought up on this thread have had no effect whatsoever on that statement, nor any on the fact HATTON BECAME A WORLD CHAMP IN '05 AND FOUGHT MAYWEATHER IN '07.

    :hi:

There isn't anything else to say other than to repeat: If you don't like it, don't read it.

I'm happy doing what I do, you be happy doing what you do.

 Bit harsh! Jonoli has in my experience at least, been willing to debate and agree to disagree on certain matters.

Dare I say it, I think PACFAN is more a glorified version of the infamous SleazeNation if anything :hey
