Mate if you feel the time is right then walk away with your head held high. I'm not gonna patronise you by saying many never got where you've got because I'm sure you only wanted to get to the top. I watched you in some great tearups over the last few years and enjoyed every one! You always stuck me that you had it between the ears so go and make a good living out of the ring. If your gonna coach go be the best you can! Good luck for the future mate!
All the best Derry mate, you're a braver man than most. As previously mentioned, the Foster fight was great, that's the performance I'll always remember. Hope to see you helping to train champions in the future.
Ahhh!! I see! I thought he was just a proud Irishmanatsch (is there any other kind of Irishman, than a proud one, actually?)* Nice one. Thanks for de-confusing me. All the very best, Mr Mathews! You should be very proud of everything you've done and you deserve no less than a happy, relaxing future! Good on yer, our kid!:good Thanks Dan. *Actually, having a name like Derry and being a Scouser, I bet he has some familial link with that irish city.
Nah. I honestly didn't BB. Thick of me, I know but I really did think he was from Derry. I was racking my brains, trying to think of Derry fighters of retirement age <embarrassed>
Best wishes Derry. Thanks for taking the time for a photo last Friday, shame the night didn't go to plan - thought you started the fight well. Glad to hear you're staying in the game by getting involved at the gym. Good luck with that, I'm sure you'll be able to pass your experiences on to the other lads, which can only help them. You've been a credit to the city, keep your head held high :bbb :good
if this is tagged to my post. i was just stating that most fighters who consider retirment dont have the support of a family and friends, advantages of youth and made decent change when leaving the pro ranks. he is in a good position to retire. thats not patronizing thats encouragement and positive thinking.:think:huhno?
