Realizm is just an idiot who thinks Diaconu is something more than a B- level stamina-less ESPN fighter with overrated power and killer instinct. Don't pay attention to his posts about Dawson.

Do you still rank Dawson above Pavlik on your pound for pound list?

Of course, if you're talking about a P4P list based on H2H ability. And even on accomplishments too.. but there's no point of getting into that. Pavlik isn't in Dawson's league, so we'll just end it there.

This thread aside, it seems that Dawson isn't liked by very many people. For whatever reason.

Do you have a link to support the assertion that Dawson is avoiding Diaconu? I thought the Diaconu's people outbid Dawson's for the fight and it is schedule to occur in Romania?

again i thought Diaconu pulled out of the fight with Dawson, dawson moved on to bigger things in the meantimeas any fighter should. but oh yeah because he didnt sit around waiting for Diaconu to get better he is now somehow afraid of him? yeah he should fight his madatory but he shouldnt wait for months idle on the sidelines waiting for him either. this is a money game and he should be fighting as often as possible. not waiting around for someones broken hand to heal.

Troll thread, everyone knows Diaconu was the one who pulled out of their original fight and everybody with half a brain can see that Dawson comfortably won the Johnson fight, because Johnson won a couple of rounds and didn't get knocked out people are calling Dawson overrated? C'mon people

Today in the New Haven Register, columnist Dave Soloman writes that he has spoken to Chad's manager, Mike Criscio, and he has informed him that Chad will not be fighting in Romania because "it doesn't make financial sense."
Now I am a huge Chad fan and have personally known him for some time, but if he doesn't fight Diaconu, whom I believe to be an easy fight for him style-wise, he is clearly ducking him because there is no excuse. This will be he biggest payday and even more than was offered him by Showtime for Tarver.....so Mr. Criscio how does this not make financial sense????

Diaconu blew the first fight, now he had to wait his turn.

Dawson just edged out Johnson, imo.

Dave Soloman - New Haven Register July 6, 2008:

"- Contrary to ESPN reports, New Haven WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson has no intention of fighting a mandatory bout against Adrian Diaconu in Romania within the next 90 days. Diaconu's promoters won the bid to host the fight in his native country, but according to Dawson's manager, Mike Criscio, it makes no financial sense to fight in Romania.

There's a chance Dawson will fight Diaconu stateside, but Dawson will gladly relinquish his belt for a crack at Antonio Tarver. Dawson vs. Tarver has been an on again, off again saga for more than two years, but there's been indications out of the Tarver camp recently that he's ready to step in the ring with Dawson in October."

If the Tarver fight really happens in October, I don't think you can make too much of this. Is Tarver a step-down from Diaconu?

the way i'd interpret that isn't ducking, it's that much like tarver in the roy jones case (tarver had a shot but blew it by losing to eric harding, then had to wait through roy's forays at heavyweight to finally get his shot), diaconu had his shot and lost it and now dawson has way bigger fish to fry (ie $$$ in a big unification fight with tarver, who many consider the true light heavy king)
