Simple concept, you are sitting next to someone who has no interest/awareness in Mixed Martial Arts. What 5 fights would you suggest to them to get them interested in the sport? I'll start Gracie v Shamrock 1 For historical importance and shows how effective and important submissions are in MMA in just 1 minute. Nogueria v Cro Cop An impressive blend of brutal striking from Mirko, and an unlikely come from behind win for Nog. A good introduction to what made these two guys ATG's and everyone loves a good comeback victory Jackson v Wanderlei 1 Brutal fight, a war in every sense of the word. I dont know one person Ive shown this fight that didnt have an ''Oh ****'' moment when Silver got the Thai clinch locked in and started his assault Sakuraba v Newton A great display of Jui Jitsu v catch wrestling, with non stop sweeps, strikes, and sub attempts through out to keep any newcomer entertained Frye v Takayama Y'all know why I picked this one
Diaz vs. Sanchez, Guida vs. Sanchez, Cro Cop vs. Gonzaga, Liddell vs. Wanderlei, Griffin vs. Bonnar are the more likely culprits. I've got UFC's 100 greatest fights so I usually stick those on and usually show them quick brutal knockouts or thrilling fights. Everytime I put on Griffin vs. Bonnar they fall asleep though. Granted its like 4am but it pissed me the **** off when my mate just fell asleep.
Rampage vs Silva 2 Fedor vs Noguiera Gracie vs Shamrock--u gotta know royce gracie Penn vs GSP 1 Forrest vs Bonnar 1
Shogun vs Minotouro Eddie Alvarez vs Joachim Hansen Pelé vs Macaco I Diego Sanchez vs Clay Guida Anderson vs Forrest Griffin
i know he was nothing amazing, but that herring big nog fight had one of the most action packed 1st rounds ever....very exciting
I agree. Their first fight was pretty epic. That was back when Herring was on a tear and was a legitimate top five maybe top three contender after coming off of wins over tom Erickson and mark Kerr. Nog outgrappled Herring for the entire fight and outstruck him on the feet. It was a pretty amazing battle all around. I would say historically that Gracie/Shamrock 1 was important. Then I'd show him the best of Pride with Wanderlai Silva vs Quinton Jackson. Then I'd jump over to some San Shou action with Cung Le vs Frank Shamrock. Need some modern fighter love with Lyoto Machida vs Randy Couture. And finally let them know who the baddest man on the planet is at the moment with viewing of Cain Velazquez vs Brock Lesnar.
charutto verissmo vs carlos newton maia vs sonnen lyoto machida vs tito ortiz george sotiropulous vs joe stevenson fedor vs nog
Good list. Although id probably replace Nog CC with Nog Fedor. And i think it's important for ALL MMA fans in their lifetime to have watched Frye Takayama. I could watch that fight a thousand times and never get bored.
Fedor vs Randleman If they saw how Randleman surplexed Fedor they would go "****ing **** i want more of this" Fedor vs Crocop An ATG fight that needs to be seen. Silva vs Leben To see how Silva started off in the UFC Fedor vs Nog Good fun fight Silva vs Griffin An absolute beat down from Andersons side
