What does being a big ticket seller have to do with being protected? Win, lose or draw his fans will always be there. This is a good fight for Buglioni at this stage. FW is the master at building fighters.
There are and I dont agree with them either! take fights that will make you improve not to protect your 0, will help the fighter in the long term and provide the fans with better fights. Everyone is happy! Apart from the prmotoer/manager who is solely interested in money!
i'd wager he has a fair few fans because of his '0' probably because they want the recognition that you dont get on a small channel
It is only his 12 fight so i guess you can't be too harsh, but some points are certainly valid. Firstly no excuse for him not to be fighting actual SMW's even if they aren't great at least have them be fighters at your actual weight not MW's dragged up. Secondly i do think his opposition has stagnated somewhat not much change between the quality of his next opponent and say his 10th he needs to take at least a bit of a step up in level and as many have said it will be his undoing if he doesn't. Happens so many times, David Price a prime example fed a load of cans then takes a big leap up in level and gets beaten twice now career is in tatters, when if he had been stepped up in levels going along he may have faired better against Thompson FW can not let the same happen to Buglioni.
Yes his main fans will be there, but 'unbeaten' fighters always draw the casual fan in. Build them up slowly, pad the record...then at some point sink or swim the textbook of many a promoter!
Franks improving every fight and he's entertaining. Every promoter hypes their fighters, they're trying to make money. I can't stand ****** but name me one promoter that's ever said about a prospect 'yeah he's not a world beater and may get beaten when he steps up so don't bother watching him now because he won't be an all time great' Buglionis good to watch for what he is (or will be) a decent domestic level fighter (great achievement anyway). We all know what the promoters games are, who cares if the casual fans buy into it at this very early stage, not hurting anyone for the moment. Look at it this way, at least it's putting money in Buglionis pocket as he seems a decent bloke. I can agree however that it starts becoming a problem and getting tedious after 30+ Fights when someone is still not stepping up, as if fans are still paying by that point all it does is justify it.
At 12 fights he should be taking on at worst fringe domestic fighters. or at least top 20 in his own weight class!. He hasn't faught anyone from even the same weight class. How can you defend that? I have listened to Frank plenty thanks, and he does seem like a very nice and humble guy. I have no real problem with Frank. I have a big problem with the way his fights are being sold and the way he is being talked about. Call a spade a spade. If you are honestly going to defend his opposition when he has yet to fight anyone in his own weight class then I have nothing to say to you.
I'm sure I remember Maloney saying it about 'Big John Mac' but I agree, Isolated example. Buglioni has been exciting at times. But that is because he has been in with limited fighters (which is fine at this stage) that are not even in his weight class (which is not fine)! These fights shouldn't even be sactioned. They dont always look as bad on TV but I've been to a fair few. Matchroom have been just as bad with Scott Quigg though obviously he is fighting on another level. Every fighter he seems to face are coming up 2 weights!!!
