But ward was dropped earlier in his career from journeymen . Neither have iron or glass chins IMO
Are you suggesting that Ward's punch resistance in on anther level to Dirrell? I might be wrong, but I don't recall Andre Dirrell being dropped except in the fight against Abraham. I'm pretty certain that Ward was dropped in a fight against journeyman, and he went through major difficulties in there. "Weakness of the divison" is just a phrase. If Dirrell wins a belt, he will establish himself in the division (especially if he does it against one of the top fighters like DeGale). Anyway, so far we still have an uncertain situation. Carl Froch hasn't vacated his title yet and he's currently holding it hostage. Eddie Hearn is probably using that time to convince Groves to fight DeGale for the potentially vacant IBF title, we'll see how that goes. If Groves decides to proceed with his WBC mandatory position and goes for Anthony Dirrell, then we'll have DeGale vs Andre Dirrell for the vacant IBF belt (of course assuming Froch finally surrenders it).
I see 168 as a division that will widen considering Froch will retire and he wont fight his brother or Ward it should allow him to grab a belt in the IBF or WBO He can be a force I think This coming from a guy whose really never been a fan of his
Dirrell was dropped by Alfonso Rocha and he could've had a KD called against him in the first round of the Anthony Hanshaw fight. Ward was dropped by Darnell Boone and pretty badly hurt by Kenny ''The Krusher'' Kost, too. Dirrell's KD is at the beginning and Ward getting dropped by Boone and hurt by Kost is from the 1:00 - 1:25 mark. [YT]V45e1dERVVw[/YT]
Thanks for the sharing. Neither has an iron chin but they both box safely enough. Ward's punch resistance is certainly not on a level above Dirrell's.
**** Dr. Shaw Hi And he didn't get robbed vs Froch. And I hope I never see that useless bag of **** again
No problem. I wouldn't say Ward's punch resistance is a level above Dirrell's either. I think Ward would definitely be getting hit and hurt a lot more if he wasn't allowed to spend so much time holding as well.
another bottler fawned over because of "athleticism" (you tell me) and "talent" and very little by way of substance.
It looks like he might have some good opportunities on the horizon, lets see if he can take them. I'd still like to see how a fight between him and Ward would go.
Ok, let's not spread the hate, that's not why I created the thread. You do make some fair points but your dislike of him is more than apparent. Firstly, if someone is coming for the belts, that doesn't mean that he will 100% get them, so we'll see. I agree about your points about the Abraham fight, but regarding Froch, that was a clean Dirrell victory, regardless of it being a stinker or not. I'm not saying that we should go on and discuss that to eternity now, it happened years ago and the thread is about his possible comeback to the main scene. According to the latest reports, Carl Froch got mysteriously injured, with Chavez Jr announcing that his next fight (which is not against Froch) the same day. Let's put a reminder, Carl Froch has to fight his mandatory challenger James DaGale, or else he will be stripped. After holding the IBF belt hostage since beating Groves in the rematch, Froch was initially given time by Hearn until 1st Jan 2015 to decide whether to vacate the belt and go for Chavez, or to fight his mandatory challenger DeGale. In the meantime, Andre Dirrell defeated Edwards and secured #2 IBF rating, which guarantees him the title fight against DeGale for the IBF belt if Froch vacates. However, Froch didn't make his decision and was given addition time until the end of January. Now when it became clear that he won't get the Chavez fight next, he is apparently injured. To be honest I find it hard to give him a benefit of the doubt but it is what it is. What happens next remains to be seen. Hopefully he finally vacates the belt soon so the rest of the division (DeGale and Dirrell) is not held hostage any further. If he doesn't vacate and still decides to keep the belt, blocking the other contenders from fighting for the belt, then he needs to be stripped as soon as possible.
