Miranda and Taylor are better than anyone slappy has ever fought, incl the 58 year old Hopkins. Lockett is not worthy to be Kelly's sparing partner. No doubt Lockett is an all time great for a Brit. But compared to world class fighters he's obviously garbage.
I didn't know it was that bad, With that sort of height difference this fight might by like Kelly Pavlik vs Lenord Pierre. Lenord Pierre, a much shorter opponent, lasted 4 excruciating, masochistic rounds with Pavlik. Lenord was knocked down in the 1st and 4th but was hurt every single round. ( Was walked back to his corner by the ref in the 2nd ) Probably wouldn't have lasted that long but I think Pavlik slowed his attack like Cotto did against Gomez. Few fighters actually want to seriously hurt the other in a fight they are absolutely dominating. Mandatory. Plus Sturm ain't interested, Abraham wants to build up to it, Duddy got cut, Wright outpriced himself, and Lorenzo wanted too much. The middleweight division simply isn't that deep. Also The Calzaghe connection is important to Pavlik. His team is trying to call out Joe. Thrashing one of Enzo Calzaghe's fighters may help make that fight a reality. That's not a fair accessment. Miranda was taking shots that would have had a lot fighters kissing the mat in the first round. Miranda isn't the most skilled fighter, but he is really, really tough with a granite chin. He joins a growing list of fighters who have never been stopped except by Pavlik.
I know you want to support a fellow brit, I am from there too. But quite frankly most British fighters are hyped up here, and when they meet World Class they end up losing badly on points or getting their lights put out. Otis Grant never fought much in the way of great fighters so pushing him close is not much of an achievement and neither is fighting for the vacant WBO Title back in 1996 it was largely only recognised in UK and maybe Europe, big name US fighters were not really interested in it back then. Prime Ryan Rhodes would never beat Pavlik, too small at 5'8 and in 1999 he was KO'd in 2 rounds by that All Time Great British NOBODY Jason Matthews. Rhodes hits harder than Jermain Taylor :rofl If Jermain Taylor fought the level of bums Rhodes fought he would likely be regarded as a monster puncher. :-D Miranda may be hyped but I would not see Rhodes or Lockett going 12 rounds with Abraham or either one beating Allan Green. Miranda would KO Rhodes and Lockett in the same ring at the same time.:bbb Lockett may have avenged the Tsarenko loss, but to lose a decision in your own backyard against a journeyman type like Tsarenko is not good. Frankly there is nothing on his record to suggest he is anywhere near world class and being pushed close by a clearly over the hill Rhodes is not a good sign either. Pavlik will win within 5 rounds certainly by KO.
I have wondered if Pavlik would use the Champs perogative to defend, but I just don't think that is him. He still has what has worked for him in the past and he realizes it is also a show. I say he goes forward. We shall see.
:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl Time for you to pick a new sport. ****ing Miranda is better than Eubank, Reid, Lacy, Kessler, Hopkins, Mitchell... :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl
Lockett will destroy the inferior Pavlik. This bout is a mismatch and a disgrace to boxing: Pavlik needs to be protected from himself, though I would be surprised if he actually turns up on the night.
NO WAY what has Miranda done to hold such a exaleted postion with you. Eubank was one of the toughest fighters evr and very consistent Kessler would beat Pavlik Reid.......ok Reids crap Hopkins best middleweight of the last decade and you write them all of as nothing but inferior to a fighter who has achieved nothing to the level these guys have
reid was a warrier - no an atg but a good tough boxer. kessler would be sho to pieces by pavlik on topic - lockett will put up a brave performance before getting shot down after r6
I don't know how much you have seen of Pavlik but over his last 7-8 fights he has steadily improved into a world class middleweight - easily the best in the world at 160 (IMO only Abraham could give him a serious challenge).I'm not ready to put him in the Hall of Fame like some Pavlik fans but he is the real deal.He is far from perfect and Pavlik is the first to acknowledge this but he is way beyond Locketts level and i would be shocked to see this fight go beyond 5 rnds. Pavlik/Calzaghe would be a different story of course - lets just hope it happens
Hope Locket gives a good account of himself. He's from a couple of miles outside my hometown so I will deffo be rooting for him. Are there tickets left...thinking of going up to AC on Saturday
get there early and don't blink ... if you see an ambulance and a little scrawny guy coming out on a stretcher .. head for the beer line ... you've already missed the fight
