Anyone who questions the guys heart is an insult to boxing fans. He stepped in the ring, that gives him way more heart than most, if not all, of you.
I think its fair to say Lockett never loved boxing, he was good at it to a certain level and has made (and invested) a decent amount of money from it.
Lockett apparently couldn't make 154 anymore - get a nutritionist on board. He comes across as a really dislikable character - has no respect for the sport and is cynical as to why he has the WBU title. Why bother with the British and European titles was his message. Erm...... To actually leave some imprint on the sport. Let's see. WBU champion or British and European champion. I know what I would rather choose - at least it proves that you are the best fighter somewhere.
Are u kidding me,,,hes more than weak hearted---i mean for crying out loud---he went to a knee 3 TIMES so that he wouldnt box pavlik anymore--give me a break--thats not a legit boxer...please quit---- it would help the sport
Average middle weight and it howed in his last fight. Maybe he should go to Jr. middle, or fight John Duddy if he wins then continue fighting.
Actually, I disagree with people saying he has no heart. Kelly dismantled him and although he took a knee three times, he got back up to take some more. Had papa big-mouth not thrown in the towel, he was getting up again. I think he showed tremendous heart, just not a lot of skill.
It was funny that people on this board were giving him a chance against Pavlik. Maybe the same people who thought Gomez would give Cotto a fight. Sometimes the lines between fantasy and reality become blurred. The guy should retire and take up another profession.
I read him say that he has invested the money made from boxing into property and he has made himself enough to not have any money issues. He also said he had never enjoyed boxing and admitted he only ever fought "for the money." After fighting Pavlik and knowing he wasn't at that level it's probably best for him to retire.
