Benton looked more impressive than Saunders in film studies, great match up. Smith is huge, it would take a big super middle to topple him unless this Gibbons was as good as Ward, what was his walking around weight, do you know? Smith`s reach would be too much for most middles from the past. What height was Wills?
I think that Sam Langford would be very successful in these matches, perhaps becoming less so the further down the weight classes he moves. His first loss might come at welterweight!
He was a good Welterweight, but I don't think he was at his best. I think Middleweight up to Super Middleweight is probably his natural weight. You can only carry so much on a frame that size. Are there any footage of him not fighting heavyweights? I suspect he'd look less lumbering and that was more just how he fought to get the most power against larger opponents, given his success against Gans and Walcott.
