My final note on the subject:

There was a couple of years when I just did not have time to follow my favorite sport. When I returned (and found ESB to get me up to par) I was shocked to soo that Byrd and Ruiz were champs, the Klits were having difficulties, and guys like Davarrel Williamson, James Mcline, Monte Barret and Lance Whitaker were top contrenders. JOe Mesi was a hyped guy but getting exposed.

Now, Wladdy has really fixed his problems and become a potential great champion. Those pretenders like Mesi, Barret, Whitaker etc. Have been replaced by guys with terrific amatuer pedogrees and professional accomplishments- Sultan, Chag, Povetikn, Gomez, Solis. A lot of these guys can box or punch, and they have shown interest in unifying. Can't wait unitl Haye, Boytsov, and Dimentrenko make there way up the ladder.

I think they are ready to break out.

I can't wait either.............future matchups like Klitschko vs. Haye, Povetkin vs. Solis or Virchis vs. Peter are very exciting, what the **** is anyone complaining about?

Wladimir Klichko who has been KOed 3 times while still in his prime. And been dropped numerous times, is the best fighter of the bunch. Thats how bad the division is.

For boxing's sake, they should disown the division.

    He has obvioulsy improved.

You can ask Rukskull- I am as hard on the Klits as anyone. But I am fair. Wladdy has improved and is on a fine streak. Credit where credit is due.

Jack Johnson was starched, knocked out cold, by Chonyski before becoming champ. Walcott lost over a dozen fights, I think. Other champs took embarrassing beatings while champ- Patterson, Frazier. Lets not forget Joe Louis getting rolled by Schemeling, and dropped in his title fight. We remember these guys as great because they were.

I am not saying Wladdy is there yet- I am saying that he has hit the reset button with his determination and effort and we ought to give the shot.

Look at who he lost to though. I would understand if it was another good fighter across from him but he lost to a journeyman in Purrity and a semi-retired boxer. Not to mention his weird loss to Brewster.

To me, and most boxing fans who do not pay attention to the division anymore, it seems like Wladdy is only the best fighter via default. Mainly because the division has no talent. Although there are some sound prospects like Povekin, Chambers and Haye on the horizon. But as of right now, the division does not exist.

That was in Wlad's prime? I think he's in his prime right now...............and he can still improve. He's never been counted out - period.

So the division was bad, as well, back when Lewis was KOed, twice, and once he couldnt' make it to his feet?

Your reasoning is very lame and shallow.

I guess Ali's era was also lame, cause he was beaten, dropped, KOed, etc.........by Frazier, as well as others?????.

Your input was good for a laugh, though.

All his losses count but that was a different, one-trick Wlad back then. He fights with serious authority now, and there is some serious challenges ahead with current beltholders Chagaev, Ibragimov & Maskaev but also newcomers like Povetkin, Solis, Haye, as well as some older guys such as Tua, Rahman, Ruiz & even Golota. Some idiots here believe that Peter has a real shot so maybe WK kicks his ass again & faster than last time.

I listed many in my last post, plus there's always Valuev for the freakshow aspect. :p Eddie Chambers, JD Chapman, maybe a rematch with TOS on a voluntary.

I think Chag, and Povetkin are also good heavywieghts who would hold their own in any era. Chag would probably do more than hold his own.

Sultan, Chag, Povetkin, and Gomez have all distanced themselves. Haye needs a few more fights, but all indications are that he is going to impress. Solis is moving up fast. Peter still has his supporters. Lyocovich and Valuev could very well rebound well. For the long term, Arreola, Boystov and Dimentrenko.

I dont think guys like Sultan, Gomez, Peter, Sergie, and Valuev are any good. Havent seen Chag. And Povetkin will rule eventually. But right now the division is dead.
