Thanks for the update Senor! :hi: Didn't realize Eric was that soon. I'm 59, been a music buff since I was a 'punk'. Had dinner in Fountain Square Indy last Friday and, as my wife, her co-worker, and myself were walking off our meal pointed to the 'Pepe-Grill' on Prospect St., telling them that the Yardbirds had breakfasted there in early 68, which obviously included Jimmy and drummer Jim McCarty, had Keith OD'd my then? They played at the local music club Le Scene at that time. The girls couldn't believe this tiny Indy cafe had served Jimmy Page! Bottom line? The Cream is still my favorite band by far, their instrumental prowess is a thing of legend. Page developed into an ATG on guitar but many of those early solos (YB's, Zepplin) were disguised rip-offs of Jeff's work. Eric stayed with the blues for his career; IMO after the Dominoes album he basically went on cruise control for the next 20-25 years (Lay Down Sally? I Shot the Sherrif?, etc.) "Hey Eric, you're a pretty good pop-rock three minute song guy but what about your guitar playing?" Page remained stuck in progressive rock/rock & roll. Both never expanded, given their talents in the 70's/80's/and...even the 90's. Jeff Beck? Now we're talkin'! Fusion, prog-rock, jazz themes, he was, and still is 'da man'. Saw him two years ago (for the 5th time) at the Egyptian Room in downtown Indy. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", "How High the Moon (Les Paul), "Stratus" (Billy Cobham), tribute lines to Charlie Christian, Wes, et al. Along with Van Morrison, Steve Winwood, and a couple of others, great talents that it has been a pleasure to grow old with over the years!
