For those that follow the career of Shuhei Tsuchiya, his next opponent on May 17th has been revealed:

Disappointing really. I had no problem with him fighting a soft touch last time out, as he was recovering from injury and his fight with Fukuhara was a gruelling one. But another walkover for him isn't going to help him.

Still, at least he seems to be fighting regularly again.

    Latest news:

Yota Sato (24-2-1, 12KOs) will be making the initial defence of his newly acquired WBC super flyweight crown against mandatory challenger Sylvester Lopez (19-3-1, 15KOs) on July 8. Filipino puncher Lopez, 24, halted Oscar Ibarra in September of last year to earn his shot at the WBC title. 28-year old Sato scored a unanimous decision last month to dethrone the highly regarded Thai, Suriyan Sor Rungvisai.

It has recently been announced that the popular Takashi Uchiyama (18-0, 15KOs) will be making the fifth defence of his WBA super featherweight title in July. However, those hoping for an all-Japan unification involving Uchiyama and WBC champion Takahiro Ao will have to wait a bit longer, as Ao is scheduled to be next out in August. An opponent for the 32-year old Uchiyama, aptly nicknamed ‘KO Dynamite’, will be revealed soon at a press conference.

Tomoki Kameda (22-0, 14KOs) has had a late change of opponent for his vacant WBC silver bantamweight title fight in Mexico. Javier Chacon (15-1, 3KOs) of Argentina has had to withdraw, which has opened the door for unbeaten Mexican Jairo Hernandez (8-0, 3KOs) to step in. The youngest of three fighting Kameda brothers, Tomoki, 20, has had the majority of his professional fights in Mexico. The bout is scheduled to take place on April 26.

Big punching lightweight prospect Shuhei Tsuchiya (12-0, 12KOs) is planning to challenge for either the national crown or the OPBF title before 2012 comes to a close. 25-year old former kick-boxer Tsuchiya is scheduled to face Indonesian Heri Andriyanto (15-14-2, 9KOs) on May 17 in an 8 rounder. Assuming Tsuchiya comes through the fight with Andriyanto unscathed, a title fight could be next for him.

Because they only do WBC and WBA, makes it a lot harder.

Shibata and Saijo nearly did and that would've been one of the most epic and 50-50 matchups you could make between Jap' greats :-( What a shame.

There's a rumour going around that Gennady Golovkin's team have sent an offer to Makoto Fuchigami for a fight in May.

Fuchigami defeated the legendary Koji Sato last year, which must mean he is a strong favourite to end the unbeaten run of Golovkin.

That was a robbery. Kouji was actually the winner but signed the wrong place on a form and therefore, due to a technicality the result was switched.

Convenient way for Golovkin to duck him.

I heard Sato ballooned up to 356lbs and had just three weeks to lose the weight before the Fuchigami fight.

Basically, Fuchigami's team offered him 600 million yen and done a Leonard to him.

Just thought I'd share these great pictures from the Japanese fight of 2010, Shinsuke Yamanaka vs Ryosuke Iwasa:
