None of that matters though, mate. It really doesn't. You can say it's unfair that it doesn't matter but, in terms of ranking a guys legacy, it just isn't important.
Let me get this straight. Lennox Lewis dominated the division up to 2004, culminating his career by a quick 6-round pounding of Vitaly's face into mince-meat. After Lennox retires, Vitaly takes on the likes of Danny Williams, before fleeing in horror from boxing, after it becomes apparent that he'll have no choice but to face Haseem Rahman. His fake retirement lasts 4 years. So, when exactly did the brothers dominate "for the best part of the decade"? It just doesn't make sense mathematically, no matter how you slice it.
I can't see anyone on the current scene beating either, and there is noone on the radar as an up-and-comer who can do it either. Vitali will probably only have 3 or so more fights. That isn't enough time for anyone new to rise onto the scene. Unless he gets instantly old, or has a fluke injury (it has happened before) then he will retire undefeated. Wlad could fight for another 5-6 years. That is enough time for someone to come on the scene who is really good. We are about due for another real contender for the top dog crown, someone who can dominate for a while. Given that there is noone around now, and no up-and-comers who have a chance to beat Wlad, he has the usual chance of a fluke injury. Other than that, he will rule for the next 3 years at least without any losses. After that, there is a chance that we will see someone special come up who will dethrone Wlad and rule in his stead. Whether Wlad retires with no more defeats is really about the quality of opponents who will exist in the future, and noone can predict that. I don't picture him as the kind of guy who will fight on too long - like Lewis he will get out at the right time.
What do you want him to do? Blow Lewis for a rematch? Pay Frazier , Ali, Norton, Holmes to come out of retirement? Wish Danny Williams didn't beat Tyson so that name could be on his resume? Well since you mentioned Wlads flaw of being knocked done as con, then Vitali's never having been, most be extremely pro, right? He didn't quite cause he was getting his ass kicked by Byrd either, and the Lewis fight was not in his control. And if you think and old Ruiz, who retired after the Haye fight, and a Giant shrek Valuev; Two of the most mocked and disrespected heavyweight champs in the past 10-20 years look great on Hayes resume, that is what is really funny.
Man, you are some hater. After the Lewis fight and his subsequent retirement, Vitali was seen as the number one guy and his crushing win over Kirk Johnson gave him Lennox's belt to make it official. That injury canceling the Rahman fight caused him to retire for a few years, before he making a comeback and taking over where he left off, continuing to destroy top challengers left right and centre. While Vitali was out injured Wlad took over as the number one fighter at heavyweight and has been equally as dominant destroying every top challenger thrown at him. They are easily the number one and two guys right now, and have been for quite a while.
Once again, was seen by whom?? Kirk Johnson? You mean, the guy John Ruiz soundly outboxed years before? Pray tell, if Vitaly "was seen as number one guy" after his victory over Kirk Johnson, what was Ruiz seen after HIS victory over the same Kirk Johnson, and his victory over Haseem Rahman, a guy Vitaly was terrified of?
It's an obvious alt-troll account. Put it on your ignore list, like I have just done, and don't worry any more about it. Life is too short to give trolls what they want.
Probably by the ring and most boxing pundits if you can go back and check. Actually Vitali was rated Champ at heavy from April 2004 till November 2005 by the Ring. he was the number one contender for 2003 [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Ring_world_champions"] This content is protected [/ame] This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected - here you can see he is still champ as of 06/09/05 Wlad was number one from 2006 until he was made Ring champ in June 2009, which he remains today. Vitali was made number 2 in 2008 after his comeback and he and his bro remain number one and two still today. Rated Champ by The Ring?? :rofl:rofl:rofl Are you aware that The Ring's rules state that if its title becomes vacant (as it did, after Lennox retired) only a fight between Ring's contender number 1 and Ring's contender number 2 can determine The Ring's champion? You know who was Ring's contender number 1 at the time? Vitaly Klitschko. You know who was Ring's contender number 2 at the time? Chris Byrd. Now, The Ring openly (and unashamedly) broke its OWN rules, and declared the winner of Vitaly-Sanders bout, as its champion. This, despite the fact, that Ring's own contender number 2 had a TKO victory over Vitaly. Now......Are we all clear with the facts here? Are we all clear that the belt that The Ring gave to Vitaly was bogus and undeserved according to Ring's OWN rules? Perhaps you should start following boxing seriously. Nothing that I'm saying here is a secret. It's all in the open, all are known FACTS.
LOL Wlad beat 6 of the top 10 rated in 2005 and with the exception of the few fighters( Valuev,Povetkin,Haye) who have for some reason or another chosen not to fight them they have beaten most the others through out the years.
and what does that spell? D O M I N A N C E Some clowns just don't want to see it. Too bad for them they will have to be seeing it a few more years yet.
