edit: I do like when he asks the tough questions post-fight, but it would be so easy to ask them respectfully instead f being sarcastic with a dude that just put his life on the line to become something great (for himself and us as fans of the sport)
awesome, he's done enough to deserve unconditional respect. You don't have to agree with him, but respect is due.
Also, when a fight is a crowd-pleaser, he never asks his tough questions. He'll ask "What did this fight mean to you?" or some bull****. He rarely seems like he is educated on the fights. It's like he thinks he is bigger than boxing now, or at the very least bigger than research/his job.
I would love for Merchant to ask Floyd "Man when that guy threw 3 punches at you and you dodged every single one of them and bust him in his nose, how did you do that?" Or ask Roy "Man you pulled off 6 left hooks, how the **** did you do that" Intead "Wow Margarito, you are so good, I'd love to give you a back rub after the fight, I mean the way you took 100 punches to the face, and beat up that guy half your size, you're badass"
"This fight .-.-.- these fighters .-.-.-.- figures to be KRUNK!" - [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcWDSP6ghwY[/ame] - - Don't **** with Old Vodka Breath! - [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oK2BLeYprfg[/ame]
He's a knowledgeable journalist that has been covering boxing for decades. He viciously shoved some meandering idiot who DARED interrupt Larry's interview, gritting his teeth like a Pit Bull. He has insight and interesting opinions based on facts more than emotion and popular belief. It's fun to listen to his slurred, drunken commentarys. It sucks when a big event comes on HBO and suddenly I'm confronted by Kellermans wide eyed leer. Boxing without Larry is like cookies with no milk.
Well put, Larry "The Legend" Merchant is one of a kind indeed. I hope that *** Kellerman goes back to boxing after dark where he belongs. Either that, or serving Larry his vodka between fights.
