i dont mind Wlad at all, but let's face it, being a "top 10" HW these days is akin to be the "smartest guy in prison".

 

doesn't matter. the hw division does lack good fighters, but if he beats enough decent/solid guys, he deserves his respect. see Joe Louis and Larry Holmes. all he can is beat what's put in front of him. let's not forget it was Makaev, Valuev and Chagaev who each turned down unification fights with Wlad

 

i like watching him fight for the most part. only on a coulpe occasions (when he was pawing with the jab) did i find the fight unwatchable.

usually he hammers the posers that are the HW division nowadays, which is good for boxing, i.e., take out the trash.

It would be a wonderful surprise Fourty, but it's highly unlikely. While Wlad has an extremely weak chin, Thompson dont exactly have the skills or the power to test Wlads weaknesses, thats just hope Thompson at least tries to make it a fight, and goes down swinging.:good

 

If I was Tony Thompson, I'd put up the strongest, highest guard I could for a couple of rounds & do absolutely nothing on offense. Wlad will start thinking about what happened against TOS, wondering when his opponent will finally open up. And then, at just the right time, when Wlad leaves a right hand hanging out there a split second too long...WHAM!!!, him every once of strenght in the Tigers body, he unleashes a vicious left lead right on the chin & its Corrie Sanders time all over again.

Well, Thompson doesn't quite have the handspeed of Sanders, but IF he can find WK's chin just once, that 1st burst of offense could put Wlad on ***** St.

Wlad is a big HW, decent technique, but no way in hell can he take a good HW shot. Thats why Manny has him fighting the way he does.

You watch what happens. If Tony follows my game plan, Wlad could be doing a MONSTEROUS CHICKEN DANCE with just one punch.

Remember, The Tiger has a decent record, He's a big man, too. He has been knocking around for years & if he comes home with the belt, we're talking $$$$$MILLIONS$$$$$ for him in the future...so don't think he's not gonna be real hungry & punch real hard. The time is NOW!!!

If he doesn't, it will be his own damn fault for not taking advantage of the situation.

Good post, I agree with your idea, but it's safe to say, everyone has a plan until they get hit, and Wlad is a very heavy hitter. There are very few Heavys that can take Wlads best shot and keep fighting, Brewster and Peter are the only two that were able to take Wlads best and keep coming forward, I dont know if he is as tough as them, but he does have a good chin, which may be enough for him to hang in there with Wlad and look for that homerun punch. Unilke Iggy, Thompson does have the reach and size to land on Wlad from a further distance.

I just hope Thompson doesnt pull an Austin and melt like ice cream cone when Wlad pressures him.

Really, about melting like Austin. That was one disgusting encounter.

Notice how I wouldn't even calll that one a "fight"???:deal

 

Austin talked all that **** before the fight and did nothing but fall once Wlad landed a decent blow on him, it's like noone has a good chin or mental toughness anymore. I know the division sucks, but you cant tell theres not a fighter out there sitting on the couch and laughing at Wlads weird reactions, and knows deep down that he can pressure and land that one big punch to put Wlad into one of his famous panic attacks.
