The Light Heavyweight Division: Biggest Joke In Boxing!

Me as a fan I have not considered him champ for a while do to the competition.To me Roy was champ who lost to Tarver who lost to Bernard who lost to Calzaghe.If you go by the unification of Virgil Hill and Michalewski then yes Erdei is lineal but few people recognize him.Put it like this,Erdei was champ right,then Bernard Hopkins,Roy Jones,Antonio Tarver,Glen Johnson and all those guys were contenders for the belt and he didn't fight either of them,a champ who doesn't fight contenders has to be stripped so I don't consider him the champ

 

According to how the linear thing works, you have to beat the champ to be the champ, and all those big American names you mentioned never were interested in fighting Erdei in the first place; neither was he in fighting them, but as champ, he wasn't the one who should have done the chasing, see.

But the whole linear thing is a joke anyway. Only 3-4 people really care who the linear champ is and only 1-2 really consider the linear champ "The Champ" in the first place.

 

It is what it is amice,I don't consider him lineal champ,he never fought a contender,when a champ does that he is stripped,to me he was stripped of his lineal title,which I don't care anyway,you could say it's vacant.

 

It doesn't matter whether you consider him lineal champ or not. He IS the lineal champ because the beat the previous lineal champ (Gonzales, who beat DM, who beat Virgil Hill, etc.) This is how the lineal champ thing works.

 

Yeah,whatever,what contendrs did he fight:Abron,Mendoza?What he is doing is keeping the belt hostage and he is doing it in a very ugly way.Hope he retires or gets KTFO so we can be rid of him.:good His contenders for the belt are no 1 Roy Jones and no 2 Bernard Hopkins for months and months but....nothing.Anyway I see you'r point but this is what I think:good

 

Sadly probably Diaconu or Johnson won't be the ones who expose him but ye he wil retire Tarver easy,it's going to be easy work

 

The division has been a joke for at least ten years, maybe more.

It's just a stopping ground for anyone just above or below the weight that wants to grab another title.

Any middleweight/super-middleweight that looks to be washed up, only has to move up to light-heavy and suddenly he's a champion again - McCallum, Hopkins, Johnson (both of them), etc.

The fact that Tarver, the best light-heavy to coming along in the last decade up to that point, was totally embarassed by a 40-something year old ex-middleweight (great one or not) says everything you need to know about the rest of the division.

 

Joe Calzaghe - #1 LHW - who never fought a single legitimate LHW before ... against former LHW king who's the biggest win at LHW in the latest 4 years is over former WW and 2 year nonactive Felix Trinidad.

 

I think LHW is a division on the come up. They have a nice upper echelon of fighters, Tarver,Dawson, and Johnson. A solid contender class, Cloud, Henry, Diaconou. Plus some faded legends, Hopkins and Jones. Pretty solid if you ask me.

 

Are they really comming up?

Jones, Tarver and Johnson are at the end of their carriers with 1-2 years left.

Hopkins and Calzaghe just are/were holding a fringe "ring" titles and will
never fight any real LHW contender ... hardly consider Winky, Tito, Pavlik
and whoever will come from the lower classes (DLH, Margarito, Hatton,
PAC, Marquez, Calderon) as the legitimate LHW contender.

The linear champion Erdei will never fight outside Germany against other than WBO contender.

Dawson is ducking Diaconu, and the rest of the guys are yust too
unproven or multiply times proven wrong as Gonzales, Woods, Drews etc.

 

What has Shaun George (the guy that beat Byrd) been up to? Nobody seems to mention him.

Yep, I've said this for a while. It's a graveyard for old relics to fight.

Yet some crazy ass people tried telling me this **** was better than SMW for years.

 

Tarver was the Lineal Champ when Bhop beat him. Calzaghe beat Bhop and he now has the lineage. Pretty simple if you ask me.
