Not a huge, but he was an underdog rather than a favorite. He was a live underdog. :smoke

But then again, I doubt anyone felt like they were underdogs entering the tournament, otherwise they wouldn't of entered it.:good

It is really a pity for boxing fans that Froch doesn't want to fight Bute after he win/loses the final. Of course, going up is the only option, not only for Froch but for Ward, Bute and even Kessler. There are a couple of big matches there. Cloud, Pascal, Sillakh, Dawson, Diaconu and even Erdei are fights I would enjoy. IMO, Bhop is a cerebrovascular accident waiting to happen. Not the age that bothers me but his later resistance.
I really want to know if Froch is looking for negotiation leverage with his contradictory statements or if he decided to duck Bute. Of course I'm talking about his team, not Froch himself.
I don't know how to make this sound so that it doesn't hurt Froch's fans. I am not talking about a duck in the sense that Froch is afraid for his health. I am sure he even thinks that he will win. But like most rational people, after discussing with his team, they see something that must be obvious even for you: Froch's stock is greater than Bute's stock right now. So, like in Poker: why play someone with a smaller pack of chips? You will play if you are sure the other guy has no skills because you are a professional and you want to take his money. There is nothing else to provide to your adversary other than experience. No money, no fame, it all goes to you. But you must estimate you chances carefully.
If Froch's team thinks Bute has absolutely no chance then it would be a no-brainier to fight him and expose him. But, obviously, this isn't the case here.
So, in the best possible scenario Froch's team consider Bute a threat in the sense that Froch's stock has a better value that Bute's stock, but an eventual clash between them does not posses a proportionally risk factor.
What I've talked about here is the "glory" and "fame" part of boxing.
As we are all aware, the second part is about money; those are a prize-fighter best incentives: fame & money (wrong order in most of the cases)
... I won't discuss the financial advantages and disadvantages of fighting Bute for two reasons:
    1) Neither Froch or Ward used this as an excuse but the fact that Bute is "unworthy"
    2) It is obvious that a fight with Bute won't ruin you from a financial perspective

So Froch is not ducking Bute but he or his team decided that it would be better not to face him. How does that sound? Better?
The duck is obvious only if Froch will continue to say that Bute doesn't deserve to face him.

:good Agree with the entire post. .... Except if Froch decides it is better to fight in Canada for financial reasons. That should be 50-50. .... OH OK, 55 Froch-45 Bute if you insist :).

I suggest Bute to do that but it's easy: not my money! :D

We shall not forget that when there is an argument about money, it is not only money. It is often about the status of the 2 fighters.

Laffie,I'm posting this out to you,CloudZ,Sabs,Badlok(or,goodguy as I prefer to call him:lol:) MJK,Drozzy,Auracle(I think) and even Orbete if he wants.I know it's not the same as your own guy beating my guy and I know you're not exactly Ward fans, but if my guy goes down on Saturday, you can all have a "thread within a thread" where you can all beat me down to Chinatown if you want.I won't put Bute in my avatar but I'll come on and take any abuse you want to throw at me.
Fair's fair at the fairground.(or all in good spirits and fun if the translation's lost on you there!)
If I've missed any of the other fair minded Bute fans out I apologise.
You can pretend Ward's from Montreal for one night only!
Have to get my daughter now so won't see replies till later.
Only fair a man takes his medicine when he needs to!

i think Ward will win but I don't root for him. I don't like preachers, especially when they are dirty in the ring.

If Froch loses, I'll have a gentle thought for you. I know it is tough when our guy loses. I sure won't laugh at you. If you were a troll, it could be otherwise, but you're a fan just like me. Good luck to your boy! :good

PityTheFool : I think exactly the same as Laffie. I think most of us Quebecois root for Froch. Besides, if he loses, the people who we will want to bash are the trolls, not a legit fan like you.

Even though we're on the opposite sides of some kinda war (lol), we still have a lot of respect for fans like you! Keep up the good work as a forumer, and let's hope to see a Bute-Froch fight while they're still in their prime!

    War Froch, we're behind you!!

PTF - fair post, you know I'm supporting Froch as most guys from QC (amongst other places) have admitted to. If Carl finds a way to land the uppercut repeatedly, a late KO/TKO is a fair possibility IMO. Ward's tactics don't do justice to his athleticism & technique, as he could be so much more fan-friendly by just popping in & out outlanding his opponent 3 to 1 without holding & wrestling... well nah, he doesn't do that. He fell in love with his ability to use his entire body to drain opponents down. So that, plus his SOG bullshat, combined with Froch's attitude, durability & girlfriend (on 'mute'), makes me root for Froch even though I acknowledge the high chances of Ward making it an ugly fight he ends up controlling in the pocket leaning on Froch.

    Peace.

Everybody - Why the **** did the mods delete my "Both Kessler & Bute call for a fight vs S6 champ" thread from yesterday?!? How did it go so wrong in the evening while I was out?!??
