I've been saying for months that Bute-Andrade should be on the undercard of Delahoya's next fight during the Cinco de Mayo weekend. GREAT exposure for Bute! And probably a huge payday too. :happy It also explain why Bute isn't exactly fighting Mikkell Kessler on Feb. 28th. Only 9 weeks between that fight and the Andrade fight on May 3rd.
Thanks, mate!:good Stephane Larouche makes a good case for WJ. What a talented guy, this Larouche fellow!
I wonder whether InterBox got the trade-off between exposing Lucian to an American market by getting him to fight a bit of an American "name" and providing him with enough of a challenge to build on his good progress recently, learn and develop, without taking too much of a step backwards. :think Maybe a better trade-off could have been made by putting more money on the table; who knows? I guess we'll just have to trust that InterBox have done the best they could. Take Green, for example. Even if we all agree he should have taken InterBox' offer, even though it wasn't more than decent, if the reason why he didn't sign was because InterBox wouldn't put up a bit more money, I am not sure that this is such a great deal by InterBox, since ultimately they should care most about building Bute up and cashing on him once he is as good as he can be, rather than compromise on his development to save some money. I am sure they didn't think about it like that, though. As sean was reminding us, Green couldn't be convinced to sign because there was no US TV. So you've got to wonder, if US TV wants to build up Bute v. Andrade, why would they not have signed up to showing Bute v. Green with Andrade on the undercard? What could have been a better build-up? Why couldn't InterBox convince them this was a great deal?
Interbox doesn't have money. Look at the ridiculous bid they made for the first Diaconu-Dawson fight last October. Even the Romanians brought more money on the table at that moment.
Sure, but it wouldn't have been that much money, would it? And it seems it wasn't the money that was the deal-breaker anyway, but lack of US TV.
Interbox didn't make a big bid because they didn't believe they could make a profitable event with Diaconu as the main event. Diaconu's fan base in Montreal is almost non existent. On the other hand. Diaconu is a star in Roumania. We will know for sure how much money interbox has when we get to the Bute-Tsypko purse bid this summer. I expect a 7 figures winning bid.
I'm not sure it's about us tv not wanting the fight but more about us tv not having any available spots to broadcast te fight. Showtime is already booked and ESPN won't be broadcasting a Friday Night fight that day because some basketball or football event I can't remember.
You think so? Does Sauerland have that much trust in Tsypko? A shame Inkin is with Universum, then! Could have done with a promoter who believed in him more.

Dear Lucian Bute fans, Joppy...oh, well. But let us all agree on one thing: Bute will HAVE to fight Kessler in 2009, as long as they both remain unbeaten in the meantime, right? I mean, this is non-negotiable, right? This HAS to happen! We DEMAND it, right? Ready or not (and there's plenty of time, so Bute'd better be ready) Bute HAS to fight Kessler in 2009, win or lose. Right? Decebal
