Camera lengths often lie. Bute's arms are not short at all and his head is not so big. ;)

    From Fightnews.com

BUTE: "I am excited and happy that Friday is almost here. I think Andrade is going to be the toughest opponent that I have ever faced. When you think of who he has fought and what he has accomplished, he would have to rank as my toughest fight.
"I have surprising speed and I will use my jab to make a difference. I'll use the jab and combinations and movement. If I stick to my plan, I doubt he'll be able to do much. He's a one dimensional fighter. He fights only one way – in your face.
(In Andrade's fight vs. Mikkel Kessler) "Kessler showed that when you stand with (Andrade), he can make a very difficult, hard fight. But when Kessler used his tools, he was able to make it an easier fight.
"I feel that what I've done in my career, I should be considered on the same level as Kessler. I am ready to unify the titles. I am ready to face anyone in this division. The Canadian fans have been wonderful to me here in Montreal. But I am ready to go anywhere, fight anybody.
"I am happy that SHOWTIME will bring this fight to the American audience, but I won't be thinking about that when I get in the ring. I have to make sure I focus and stick to my game plan against Andrade. It will be a great fight."

    --------------------------

:huh doesn't sound like Bute at all; he'd never say things like these; it was stupid to put up a press release like this before the fight!

Location: Bell Centre, MONTREAL, Oct. 24
    Odds:
    Bute -265; Andrade +225
    Over 11.5 -180; under 11.5 +140

Lucian Bute will match his speed and skill against the strength, iron chin and heavy-handed aggression of Librado Andrade in the ShoBox main event from Montreal in a classic match between boxer and fighter on Friday.
Bute, who makes his second defence of the IBF super middleweight title, sees himself as a champion on the same level as Mikkel Kessler, who outclassed Andrade in Denmark in March 2007. The tall southpaw is undefeated but this is his toughest, most dangerous fight. If Bute is truly on the same level as Kessler he will need to dominate Andrade in every round, which frankly looks unlikely.

In Bute’s camp they feel that the Romanian who now makes Montreal his home will be too skilful for Andrade. Trainer Stephane Larouche said over the phone from Montreal that he feels the big mistake people make against Andrade is not giving him enough respect. They feel he is easy to hit, start getting ambitious and suddenly find themselves getting hit, hurt and hammered.

This happened with Yusaf Mack, who knocked Andrade down, piled up points but unwisely went for the KO and got caught up in a ferocious, give-and-take fight that saw him get the worst of it as Andrade amazingly rallied.

Since then Andrade has scored another big won, battering Germany’s Robert Stieglitz in eight rounds.

Although Bute will have the crowd on his side in his adopted hometown, Andrade is familiar with Montreal. He fought there two years ago when he overwhelmed Otis Grant in seven rounds and he is now trained by Otis’s brother, Howard, the former Commonwealth lightweight title challenger. This is Andrade’s second bout with Grant as his trainer. Grant wants Andrade to go after Bute’s body rather than try to land big punches to the head, at least in the early rounds. Grant commented after Thursday’s weigh-in: “If you kill the body, the head will die. This is not a chess match or a game. We are going to take the fight to him, keep the heat on.”

Bute says that Andrade is one-dimensional and fights only one way, coming straight ahead. This is true, but Andrade is so strong, so hard to discourage, that eventually something heavy is likely to land. “I will be in his face,” Andrade said at the weigh-in. “Whoever does more damage will win this fight. Whoever makes the first big dent is going to be in control.”
While Bute is speedier and slicker, Andrade looks the more imposing physically. Howard Grant says he’s heard it all before, about how Bute will be too fast, too much. “I want to see what happens when he gets hit, when he’s hurt,” Grant said.

Rest assured that Andrade will be doing his level best to hit Bute and hurt him. Trainer Larouche said that sparmates (including contender Fulgencio Zuniga) were encouraged to get physical with Bute and rough him up on the inside. They believe they have all the bases covered. “We’ll take it one round at a time and go for a win on points or perhaps by late stoppage,” Larouche said.

In Bute’s favour is that fact that he has faced some dangerous, strong pressure fighters in the past and done well against them, having outpointed Africans Lolenga Mock and Sakio Bika, while he stopped hard-hitting Alejandro Berrio in the 11th round to become champion.

Andrade was too young and strong for the ageing southpaw Otis Grant but he has never met a left-hander with the youth, moves and legs of Bute. It is easy to envisage Bute making Andrade miss and picking him off, but can he keep doing it all night? Bute hits sharply but Andrade looks the bigger banger. Andrade will be dangerous every moment. If Bute isn’t able to slow down the Mexican fighter he will have to box a near-perfect fight from rounds one to 12 inclusive. This is not easy to do, but I think Bute can do it.

Bute was an international-class amateur who boxed in the world and European championships, and he holds a win in the amateurs over Russia’s two-time Olympic silver medallist, Gaidarbekov. He has been 12 rounds on our occasions and has won on stoppages in rounds 11 and 12, so he is accustomed to boxing over the championship course. I have a lot of respect for Andrade but I see Bute boxing his way through the 12 rounds and weathering some rough, anxious moments along the way to a unanimous decision win.

Boxing writers likes to put words in boxers mouths. Especially when the discussion goes through a translator.

Calzaghe showed that when hopkins faces someone who is able to adjust in the ring, it becomes far more difficult for Hopkins. Bute adjusts well in a ring. I would not bet against Bute. But hey, I'm a fan.
