Well deserved.
Can remember Barrera v Morales 1 very well, but was lucky to catch the fight.Didnt have Sky Sports at home, and ended up having a drink with the missus at the Mother-In-Laws and sleeping on the couch.Woke up with a hard on,and found this adult freeviews so decided to have a wank, and after started flicking the channels and came across the fight away to start. Was dozy when the first bell went, but holy feck i woke up pretty quickly.THE best fight i had ever watched and two legends making history that very night.Gutted when the decision went against MAB but from then on he was my hero,no homo!

I was always gutted when i saw the needle between the pair as i so wanted them to get on,and would love to bang their heeds together right now,sit them in the same room and make them accept each other, but i doubt they ever will. Some say the aggro makes it,but i disagree as its not needed.

One of the most hurtful few rounds i witnessed was Paul Lloyd getting slapped around silly and was a mismatch of epic proportions with MAB unable to miss him,and then came probably one of my most enjoyable nights of boxing when he schooled Hamed and won me a fair bit from the bookies. All the casuals i knew couldnt see beyond Hamed due to the British media hype but i could see no way accept a single bomb that he would win this.I was surprised at how disciplined MAB stayed for the whole 12 and the last 2 rounds just rubbed salt into the wounds.
Hated seeing his later fights where the oppos wouldnt have laced his gloves in his heyday but he will always be up there with Manny as a personal favourite of mine.

There was always the pressure on him to be the "next" Chavez, too. He paved his own path and built his own legacy, I think when he adopted his newer style during his comeback he just said Fudge it, I'm just going to be me, and probably let off alot of weight on his shoulders. It was still fun to watch him revert to his original style every now and then, launching those thudding bodyshots like you stole his car.

Barrera is my all time favorite boxer, he made me a hardcore fan when he fought Hamed, and I was like 11 years old, tried to copy his style when I sparred now I only train and try to throw his great combinations on the heavy bag

:nono General consensus has the scoring all knotted up at 1-1-1, with the official results in the first two swapped around.

Great thread. Barrera is high amongst my favorites to be sure.

And for the record: his Mexi-mullet was the pinnacle of awesome!

Barrera only ducked 1 fighter, and that was Humberto Soto.

Since 2007, Soto tried to fight MAB, but MAB avoided him.

There was even a promo on their proposed fight years ago, but MAB later refused to fight Soto.

Here's the link:

Manny Pacquiao also avoided Soto
Morales also ducked Soto.
Edwin Valero also avoided Soto
Robert Guerrero also avoided Soto
Juan M. Marquez also avoided Soto

the only big names that fought Soto, were Joan Guzman & Lucas Matthysse but BOTH CHEATED against Soto with dirty illegal tactics to beat Soto.

Hoooly Toledo, look at this! :scaredas:

http://makeagif.com/GSkiJL

Right hand and left hook downstairs, left hook up top, and two more body shots.

Each of those five shots could knock a man down. Barrera unloaded them all together and folded Toledo up like a dollar bill - and Frankie somehow got up from that!!!

http://makeagif.com/2GgT5R

Double right uppercut, straight right, left uppercut, right hand, left hook, right hand, left uppercut. All in under three seconds, all full power.

The Liver punch that Soto KO'd Bobby Pacquiao with (as shown in the beginning of the youtube vid below), is the main reason that MAB, EM, JMM, Manny Pac, Valero, and so many other avoided Soto.

Neither of them want to be KO'd with that liver punch leaving them on the canvas for minutes because its humilating to be KO'd like that.
Thats why many avoided Soto.
