none of the fighters you listed above had a definable era where they dominated all of their comp.:deal try a little bit hard to understand the concept of an era.:admin

Its not though. His best wins are Corrales and Castillo. Hatton (provided he wins) will also top the DLH win.

I need to log off, Ive taken to defending PBF. :tired

Roy Jones has the best resume IMO
He beat almost everyone who was out there 4 him at the time. WOuld alove to see him and DM fight, but cant go back in time. And others, but he damn near beat every champion and unified the LHW division and made a substantial amount of defenses. He also did win a piece of the heavyweight crown, John Ruiz or not, that is still an accomplishment, for a blown up middleweight to do.

exactly right now I have roy slightly ahead of floyd based on his title defenses and champions defeated. floyd can surpass roy if he beats hatton (based soley on accomplishments). if floyd fights on and beats cotto and williams then there is no doubt who was better. right now I have a three way tie.

My reading skills are fine. Your comprehension skills seemingly need some work. Let's take Vargas for example. You argue that he would be undefeated if he had a similar resume to Floyd. This is a flawed argument for two reasons. No. 1, Vargas fought his entire career at 154 and above. Floyd fought all but one of his fights at 147 and below. So from that perspective it's a flawed argument because the guys on Floyd's resume don't fight in Vargas' weight class. No.2, the only fight Floyd had at 154 was against DLH. Floyd won this fight. Vargas was KO'd by DLH.

Finally, you clearly stated that Vargas, Pac, Mosely, and Winky had better resumes than Floyd. How exactly does naming fighters that they didn't beat prove that they have a better resume than Floyd? When people talk resumes, they talk about fighters that a guy has acutally beat. How is it an accomplishment for Vargas to get stopped twice by Mosely and once by DLH? How is getting stopped by these guys more impressive than Floyd beating anyone?

    Respectable post.

If he goes on to beat Cotto and Williams, and Cotto and Williams end up being as good as I think they are going to be, I would have to agree.

you can't knock sweet pea and roy's era. they dominated just as many HOfers as floyd did. right now if floyd can defeat the young champions of his weight class (something roy and sweet pea were not able to do at the end of their careers) then he gets major marks.

Fair enough, but when I rank fighters in order of greatness, I look at their wins, not overall level of opposition. If you go by overall opposition faced, De La Hoya is probably in the top 10 all time, which is clearly not the case.

Yes, Vargas, Trinidad, De La Hoya, Mosley, and Pacquiao have faced more ATGs than Floyd, but ranking them, Floyd is number 1 in my book.

But like you said, you'll stand by your original post. I just gave my 2 cents:good

Mayweather has been more fearless than most when picking his opponents.

I would tend to agree with you on this point. Do you care to elaborate as to why you feel this way?
