It was my honour and pleasure to meet Adamek in Krakow last week whilst I was on holiday. He was with Ziggy and his family and was kind enough to have a chat with me and pose for some camcorder footage to be taken (thanks dad). Adamek is confident of beating Cunnigham. If anyone in Adameks circle reads this, please pass on my thanks for him being so approachable --- regards, the "England, near Manchester" guy in krakow' :-D
Tomasz Adamek is my boy. What he needs to do is to make sure he has a Plan B agaisnt Cunningham. If his handspeed proves superior, by all means box on the outside. But if not, he can't just stand there for 10 rounds like he did in the Dawson fight. He needs to get inside, work the body, and make Steve FIGHT in between all the clinching--which Cunningham really, really doesn't want to do.
As always, good points Axe. I think Adamek and Cunningham should be fairly even in terms of handspeed, but that's just a guess. They seem similar in that regard, and I can see a pattern form wherein it alternates between which fighter gets his punches off first. In either case, the difference in hand and foot speed should be nothing like what we witnessed when Adamek fought Dawson and inexplicably never tried to close the distance. Adamek chose the wrong opponent to try and put his impeccable skills on display. Anyway, psyched for the fight.
What is the date of Adamek-Cunningham? I cannot find this fight on the Fightnews schedule, but I was under the impression it was Dec 11 in Newark, NJ? Help!
Couse fightnews sucks :nut Dunno maybe they missed it... I mean they showed the Bell and GOmez fights on there.
