Of course it will look the way you said, cuz Gmitruk has some deals in Poland and cannot be all the time next to Tomasz within 8 weeks of preparations. Employing RB makes me thinking more positively! ps. Piotr Wilczewski is going to be in Masternak's corner in January cuz Gmitruk will be in the USA. New great polish coach please! :happy
I guess this is good news about Bloodworth coming on board to help out. I hope Adamek at least understand english better now so we don't have another communication breakdown. But come fight night, it will be Gmitruk doing all the talking in the corner. I'm surprised Rumsfeld hasn't posted his feelings about Bloodworth. I'm sure he'll be happy, since he wanted RB back to train Golota one more time. Go Adamek. Next HW Champ of the World!!!:happy
qwertyz has a nice Adamek avatar, he looks like a heavyweight should look... This content is protected
little late for bloodworth to come on board, not mentioned about gmitruk training adamek for only 3 weeks it's not that I've bad feelings but certeinly I'm nervous about Estrada fight 3 weeks is good for loosing-weight camp for seniors but not to prepare for a fight especially at new division
Journalist: First feelings after first training with Tomasz Adamek? RB: Faster than I thought, stronger. I knew that he likes to beat combos, that he's been thinking in the ring. It's been visible after 2hours spent during the training. I've been watching him since his first fight in the USA in LHW. There's no coach in the world who wouldn't want to work with somebody who thinks in the ring, who handled boxing basics as good as Adamek. The fact he's got steel balls and iron chin don't bother it at all. J: Are there any problems with communication ? RB: There aren't any problems. If Tomasz doesn't understand anything, the he simply asks and I can explain it in other way. Anyway he speaks better english than he considers. Boxing is very universal language, you can show details. In few weeks we will understand each other without words. J: You said you've been following his career since his USA debut. Pick the one that let you think like: "it would be nice to train such guy" RB: I'll surprise you - the loss against Dawson. Adamek couldn't match himself to Chad's style - then I had no idea about his weight problems, but he did his job in the ring, wasn't giving up, wasn't punching without any will just to survive full 12 rounds and grab cash. And he almost finished Dawson. He put him down, in my opinion he won last 3 rounds. This is very, very rare for a boxer - keep fighting, even when it's not going well, but he kept going for the victory. It's good because of two reasons... It shows who you really are, it also makes your opponent to start doubt. In my opinion it was his best fight. J: Well... some people say Tomek, as a HW boxer, doesn't have a KO punch and is very hittable. Are you going to work on it ? RB: We've started already. Tomek likes to go forward, it's a source of his successes and nobody wants to change it. We start to work on defence and we want to make him less 'hittable', it's not gonna be difficult, because Tomek admit my suggestions quickly, he can put it in the way he moves in the ring, how he changes his tactic. What about his power - nobody really knows how strong it is until he feels it on himself, in this example there's power to feel . Well.. it doesn't matter if you knock out with one punch or with combo of 2-3 punches - it's the way Evander Holyfield did it. J: You've been next to George Bentona, coach of Holyfield, you have worked with Meldrick Taylor, Pernell Whitaker, then Fernando Vargas, Joel Casamayor, Raul Marquez, Jeff Lacy and currently David Tua. Which experiences are the most useful for you?RB: Evander could have been hitting you as long till you had enough. Adamek has stronger punch than him and although you can't bring training methods from one boxer on another one, but Adamek really reminds me Holyfield. I really want my boxer to win fights or even lose fights, but while not forgetting about basic boxing rules. Jab is not to decorate, but to set the way the fight's going, combos, thinking in the ring. Let's take a look at PBF, who's been using boxing basics. He's mastered whole boxing stuff from basics and he's still undefeated. J: Have you seen Adamek-Golota? RB: Yeah I have. I felt sorry for Andrew, who I consider as my friend. Sometimes we talk by the phone. It was over after the first round, when Adamek caught him on straight right. Tomek didn't let him to catch the rhythm, Adamek was faster and was exact in this what he was doing. J: Dan Rafael said, there aren't different boxers than Adamek and Golota…RB: I don't know if I could agree with him, but I know you mean their mental sides. Nobody knows what was in AG's head, when lost 'won' fights with Bowe or Grant. You gotta ask him himself. In the ring you are the same person who you are everyday. I felt really sorry these Andres loses, cuz I know how hard he was working before these fights. I've been in MSG when he was fighting Byrd and Ruiz. In first fight he was robbed. In Ruiz fight he won first three rounds, later I was with my boxer in dressroom. I couldn't believe he lost it, that he's not a world champion... J: Will Adamek be a world champion? RB: Why not ? He's just after one fight in HW, he needs 2-3 fights bouts to get a title shot. For now he has to win with Estrada, who is very uncomfortable opponent, a good boxer, who you can't leave space because he will take his advantage, you gotta have a nice plan for him. I also heard about April fight against Arreola. Good marketing choice, also he's one of the top 5 heavies in the world and after beating him there's a title shot. Also good choice from sports aspect. He's in Tomek's range, cuz he can fight only in one way - go forward and crash his rival with his mass. Vitali Klitschko showed everyone that Chris is very predictable. Good matchup for Tomek. J: Don't you worry that HBO will want to show Adamek-Tua? You cannot train them both at the same time.RB: This fight is not gonna happen, both boxers has other paths to become champions. David has to get a title shot next 10 months. Tomek has got time, still entering this boxing market. Anyway, there are few titles to take. What's the point of pushing the same title ? J: How do you think will look your cooperation with Andrzej Gmitruk?RB: There aren't going to be any problems. You have known me since 15 years and you know I'm not a troublemaker and I can work and talk with anyone. At this stage of Adamek's career, he needs an entire team that works for him, not for his own splendors. Trainer is for boxer! They do not punch us in face, we only look at it.
