First, he was never undisputed (another "fact" his fans spout out there that was never true), he went 2-1 in CW titlefights and had 3 out of 4 belts at once that he never defended, he was the consensus #1 in the division though.
Second, the biggest hype and overrating came when he started his HW career, with his fans boasting how he would knockout every single HW out there and wouldn't have any trouble with the champions Wlad and Vitali, while in reality he only edged Valuev in a way others would never had gotten the W. Also he stunk out the place against both Valuev and Wlad, fought a far past it Ruiz and never was Audley while he was the would be the savior of the division according to his fans.

Just go back to the 2009/2010/2011 threads here on this forum and tell me again that man wasn't massively hyped and overrated.

Kubrat Pulev is the most overhyped HW in the last 5 years.

Id say David price was wayyy more overrated . he was considered a complete monster who was going to destroy all around him

Pulev was hyped to but not to that extent and he is still a solid top 5-10 fighter

OK, my mistake. Instead of him I will put Pirog on list. He was so promising MW, and there was a lot of hype around him, here, on this forum. Of course, we will never know....Had he deserved the hype ? The fooking injury...

Donaire didn't get a lot of hype and is a HOF worthy fighter not sure what you're saying here.

Probably already stated but lacy deserves a mention. Also, just about every American hw in the last 7-10 years who strung together a few ok/good wins.

OK, I admit that I had exaggerated about Nonito. But, would you admit that there was a pretty strong hype about him, before fighting Rigo...Partly undeserved ?

Like southpaw already stated, the ongoing stream of US, but also UK and Cuban heavyweights that eventually went nowhere. But of course different hype levels among them.

How about Andre Dirrell by the way?

Agreed. Price was majorly overrated when he was cranking, imho - Pulev is at least a pretty serious force, anyone who can beat him is definitely the real deal.

    Its been a few

Gamboa - Relied too much on speed
Margarito - There were people who were comparing him to JCC Sr. after the Cotto fight smh
Lomenchenko -For a guy that lose to Salido he sure is overrated, and before anyone says he was outweighed and it was his second fight the way some people talk about dude is if hes SRL
Golovkin - Fans and Jim Lampley is giving him way too much credit
Bute - Thank you Carl Froch
Broner - He was really overhyped Floyd comparisons were a joke
Calzaghe - While he had a pretty good career his resume outside of Kessler Hopkins & Lacy is real thin,
Russell Jr. T Rex arms fast but do not throw enough to make difference fights a in the pocket style that is not really as effective

Fighters like Mayweather, Pacquiao, Marquez, Morales, Barrera, Hopkins, Ward, Jones Jr. etc have put in work win lose or draw these guys are not overrated cause they proved it time and time again
