Yes sir, a great fighter, I have liked Fullmer for a long time he is not underrated at least to me! Maybe to others and if so that's a damn shame.

what makes him so underated? his lack of fights against top opposition?

what about lloyd marshall? knocked out ezzard charles and shutout jake lamotta and charley burley, williams never did anything like this.

There is no knocking Marshall's resume, but because most of this was done when over the MW limit, it's hard to rate him above Williams at 160.

I rate Marshall at light-heavy. If memory serves his only great wins under the limit were against Burley and Chase.

O come on, just because he weighed in at 161lb or 162lb your gonna discredit his middleweight victories? The bouts were not for the title, and he wasnt contracted to make weight so he weighed in whatever he wanted. When he was actually ordered to make weight, he did and beat up on jake lamotta and charley burley weighing under the limit.

i dont rate marshall at lightheavyweight, too small. at middleweight however he was a naturally big wrecking machine. he was at his best at 160lb unquestionably. he rates top 10 in my middleweight list all time.

Discrediting them? No, I count them. But if a guy weights 164 he's not fighting at middle. He's not.

Conn was very highly regarded as a middleweight by some of the old timers.

The most underrated middleweight ever in my opinion is James Toney, and I think this is primarily due to his relatively short tenure at 160. Look at his resume from '91-'94, watch his fights and the finishes to them. I would fancy that Toney against many of the greats h2h. If he came to the ring in peak physical condition, he would take some stopping.

I wouldn't favor him over a single MW that you could classify as great. In other words I think the exact opposite regarding Toney.

Lamotta is far more underated than cerdan. People make exuses for cerdan, without accepting the fact he got his ass kicked by a hungry tiger like a jake who poured out his anger on cerdan from getting denied a title shot all those years. I guess being dropped by a left hook and staggered badly before the shoulder injury, isnt enough to persuade people lamotta had cerdans number that night no matter what.
