The myth that Douglas "gassed" against Tucker...

Atleast Buster Douglas's father Bill "Dynamite" Douglas (a tough middleweight & light heavyweight contender in the 60's and 70's) gave up training him because he felt his son had quit in the bout.

 

I never liked that father & son combo in boxing anyway...... It rarely ever works out down the road.......

I dont believe he gassed out, he just stopped fighting and quit. Strangely enough Douglas if he would have gone on to win that fight would have faced Tyson for the undisputed title while Tyson still had Rooney in his corner.

 

I just reviewed my tape a week or two ago........ Douglas was kickin' Tucks ass good in rds 6 thru 8.......... He even wobbled Tucker with a shot in the middle rds......... Douglas was ahead on points when he shut his motor off......... He pissed me off to the max right there.......

The first time I ever saw Buster Douglas fight was in 1985 on ESPN.... Douglas fought this dude named Dion "Freight Train" Simpson..... B.D. KO'd Simpson in round 1... I taped the fight.... I still have it.......

Tucker admitted to not being totally right for the fight, but give Buster some credit, he was there for a moment.

I heard the same thing but when i watched fight i realized that actually! Douglas was stunned and that Douglas gave the ref a look of i dont want continue because he was out on his feet, plus the people who make out Douglas was winning the fight are being very generous imo, as the rounds were very close and i had the fight relatively even or with one guy 1/2 rounds infront.
