We score based on clean effective punching. Activity doesnt matter.

I rewatched it twice and had it 8-4 and 9-3 JMM based on clean effective punching. Marquez also had the better defense and was the ring general.

i agree and thats how i score.
But the argument from pac fans seems to be marquez wasnt active enough and manny had far superior punch output

Last night I scored it 115-113 for Pacquiao:

So, I watched it again. And I scored it 115-114 for Pacquaio this time.

Pacquiao: He was aggressive, going forward. Outpunched Marquez, though Marquez had more of the cleaner hits, they came too rarely. Pacquiao made more damage with his offense. Marquez made it a fight, at the same time Pacquiao boxed below his level.

Marquez: Clean and effective yes, but again. Too rarely and little damage. Was there ever a point in the fight where Marquez were the guy holding the center? Even if Marquez held his ground in many rounds, that doesn't mean that he won them. It's a difference being competitive and winning the round.

Round 3,4,8,9,10 were awful close rounds.

    Pacquiao - Marquez
    10-9
    10-9
    9-10 (close round)

    10-9 (close round)
    9-10
    10-9 (Best round for Pacquiao)

    9-10 (Best round for Marquez)
    9-10 (close round)
    10-10 (close round)

    10-9 (close round)
    9-10
    10-9

Pac deserves to get most of the close rounds, you have to give credit to the guy who is risking and initializing the exchanges...Marquez was playing it safe, he was scared he'll make a mistake and get caught if he took a risk..I dont blame marquez, but imagine if pac is doing the same thing, back peddaling the whole time waiting for his opponent to make the first move, and we know marquez wont initiate, result will be a **** fight!!!

people should stop acting like this never happened before, this is very common in judging close round fights, even UFC and MMA are using it too...FAVOR THE GUY WHO TOOK THE RISK, and i think thats fair enough!!!

Except that's not really what happened. JMM lead just as much as Pac.. just because he fought going back doesn't mean he never was aggressive.

You get no credit for coming forward and missing.

Marquez had 4 clear rounds, Pac 2 rounds. There were 6 close rounds. Fight could have gone either way depending on who you give the close rounds to. However, in many people's opinions, Marquez looked to have won the fight owing to having won more clear rounds. If you give all close rounds to Pac, then it's 116-112. Either way, it's not a robbery.

8-4 juan manuel marquez..pac has problems with counter punchers..hate to see what faster fighter with good counter pucnhing and longer arms would do to him.
