Sticker and mover with a big punch who won the championship in 1980 and successfully defended it 9 times. Elected to the Hall of Fame in 2000. One of the best-ever Philly fighters.

North Philly - Heavyweight

1984 Olympic Gold Medalist won 15 straight as a pro before facing a prime Mike Tyson for the world title in 1987. The 7th round TKO loss virtually ended his career, although he fought on for another 10 years.

Defensive ring wizard was one of the smartest and most skilled of the Philly legends. His scientific approach thrilled purists and befuddled opponents (& fans). Never fought for the title but elected to the Hall of Fame as a trainer.

Round and smiling Solomon was a former boxer and Negro League catcher, who's impact came as the trainer and father figure of many stars, including Cyclone Hart, Saad Muhammad, Frank & Anthony Fletcher, Ernie Terrell, & Sonny Liston. Tamed Leon Spinks long enough to help guide him to the title.
