:good. It was a typo though, i didnt put close rd on the score card i wrote while watching. Have to edit that one.
Ive seen his comments on other posts...I think he meant 5 was a close round. 6 was when Luis started to drop his hands and do nothing. It DEFINATELY wasnt to him.
He was definately hurt and gassed, but an actual punch didnt put him down, what did was his lack of energy when going in for the clinch. Funny, toward the end (those last two rounds mostly), Collazo did WAY more holding than Berto was doing at the beginning, yet noone calling robbery are mentioning the BS deduction or the fact Luis was never even warned.
1. 10-9 C (clear) 2. 10-9 B (clear) 3. 10-9 C (clear) 4. 10-8 C (clear) 5. 10-9 B (close) 6. 10-9 C (close) 7. 10-9 B (clear) 8. 10-9 B (clear) 9. 10-9 C (clear) 10. 10-9 C (clear) 11. 10-9 B (clear) 12. 10-9 B (clear) 114-113 for Collazo I thought it was a good close fight with many clear rounds for once. I think that 5 and 6 were pretty close rounds. That means 115-112 for Collazo to 114-113 for Berto was acceptable to me. This proves Berto is ready for the big dogs so I think a rematch is a pretty good idea.
Gotta tell ya bro...tho I still say he has no power. He can definately punch, I will give you that. His timing and accuracy more than make up for any power issues he may have. Great ****ing fight tho!
I didn't score it, but felt Collazo had a comfortable lead with the fight tightening up in the last two rounds. I remember thinking that if Berto won the 12th it would still go to Collazo. What stands out in my mind about the fight above all else are two things: 1) Collazo making the fast Berto MISS so often and 2) Collazo generally outworking Berto for most of the fight.
Good call, S2. It's all about the guy who got the W in the end, and you picked the right man. It's funny, because I'm on the other side agreeing with you more now about his power. I respected your views going in, and I respect them now.
Six rounds apiece + point deduction = razor's edge 114-113 win for Collazo. He blew it in the 12th though; I knew there was a chance the judges could've scored one of his rounds Berto's way and the only way to seal the deal beyond the shadow of doubt (except, apparently on that one lunatic card) was to dominate the last three minutes. His corner told him "this is the round you become champ of the world, just take it" and he came out limp. Very disappointing.
Very good point. It was the 5th round in my opinion that was close enough to go either way...and if they had given it to Berto (which I did off controlling the distance and landing the far cleaner, harder shots that round), the 12th was the one that could have meant do or die. And as you said Luis came out dead. But my god was it a great fight...I cannot WAIT until the rematch!!!
