Briggs can probably get a WBU title shot. Not much else.

 

Briggs was always a bum, even from the times when he split with old time and long time trainer Teddy Atlas. That was when he lost to Wilson and revealed to Teddy that he suffered from Asthma. Teddy left him of course b'cause there were no confidence tiers there but incredibly this guy who was being bumped sideways and down by the lithe courtesy of people like Lance Whitaker got a shot at George Foreman Lineal Heavyweight Championship ( that is after George have been stripped of everything, IBF title to be disputed by Botha and Schultz and then Moorer and Shultz, WBA title disputed between Tucker and Seldon when Tyson was to comeback and fight McNeelly). Briggs was behind on all HBO scorecards and analysts when they annouced a MD quite wide for the lucky guy and that led him to be plenty of times knocked of his feet against Lennox for the WBC Heavyweght Championship. Incredible was to see him with that armature of muscle, rigid and almost unmovable against Sergey Liakhovich winning with the last punch of a WBO fight the White Wolf dominated and again losing the title against a smart elusive lefty in Ibragimov. The last time he tried something he almost had a brain stoppage against Vitali but since he's mad and interrupted a press conference and took advantage of Wladimir's most horrible being of not striking back... He goes on. I would feed him to Deontay but I don't wanna see Wilder get a little bit physically diminuished b4 going full steam against Stiverne so...

 

He isn't in fighting shape. All those muscles are great but he only can throw 10 punches a round. What good does that do?

I dunno he does look pretty good. I thought Rahman looked good ahead of his super 8 deal though and that was a flop if i ever seen one.

I'd like to see Briggs against a live opponent, i agree send him in with Wilder or something like that. He has to end the fights fast or he aint worth getting in there. No way he would want what he thinks he wants...a long jab to the face with Wlad for 5-6 rounds+.

 

Briggs has been washed up for about a decade.

He was only ever a contender at best who held a ppr title very briefly.

 

Say what you want about Briggs, but the man knows how to promote himself. What did he ever do to deserve a title shot against Vitali Klitschko. They way he is crashing press conferences lately won't be surprised to see him fighting for a belt.

I actually thought that was going to be a decent scrap but turned out to be a one sided bludgeoning. Cant believe it lasted as long as it did.

Briggs was never a great fighter. He was pretty good in his heyday but now looks good because he works out constantly and as he said he quit drinking. He is a very funny, entertaining guy and did Wlad a favor by drawing attention to that Leapei farce of a title fight. Wlad's team may have brought Briggs in to provide some comic relief and entertainment to an otherwise dull mandatory defense that nobody cared about.
