I'm prepared to be educated by people who know better, but I just don't see what's to get excited about Hughie F. Is it simply potential? Coz when I watch him, he just looks domestic level to me. Tidy but nothing special.
He's only fairly recently turned 21. I'd like to see him step it up a fair bit this year, but still no massive rush. The main objective should be to be very active and tested against some quite decent operators with a different range of styles. He needs to learn and develop, as any young heavyweight should. Perhaps British title towards the end of the year. Should avoid Whyte for now I think.
fighters pulling out/avoiding hughie is rubbish! he's no banger, i think any heavyweight would be happy to give it a go. sounds to me more likely fat mick is offering peanuts or just not doing a very good job
i see joshua giving up the british pretty soon and there could be some good fights for hughie there. whyte, ***ton, cornish etc would be good fights to get him experience and let him have time to keep maturing.
Not sure what the point of this is. The HW div is overwhelmingly made up of 'stiff Eurobots' and T.Fury just beat one for the lineal! Check Hughies record and remember he's had a blood disorder to work through, people are hyping a bit since he's smashing up people no other 21 yr old HW is and displaying shot variety and pacing whilst he does it. Sleep on his skills if you like but he's going places.:good
He is only beggining his career and that is not the issue. If you don't like sceintific boxing, then this is really not the sport for you.
To be fair to Hughie he comprehensively beat Andriy Rudenko in a similar fashion to Lucas Browne who is fighting for the WBA strap next. I see no issue in rushing him, English Title then a few fringe Euro contenders. He has to stay active though.
Too much hype over Hughie, but until he fights the likes of Chisora or Whyte as starters then best he carries on fighting mediocre fighters and being talked about but in my opinion he's nothing special at all.
People need to realise boxing is not just what happens here in Britain. Rudenko beat Lucas Browne. Browne got the decision. Rudenko would beat Whyte and Chisora. Hughie schooled him.. The reason people won't fight Hughie is his skills you can't get near him. He boxes loose with his hands down his shot selection and movement is great for a heavyweight. Why does Hearn never mention Joshua fighting Hughie?? Joshua would charge in and get picked off all night. Hughie is the real deal seen his sparring with Steve Cunningham total class
Almost 100% spot on :deal Rudenko won the fight vs Browne, while Hughie totally outclassed him. I think Whyte and Chisora are the favourites when they fight Rudenko, but only like 60-40. Hughie has a great skill set and is without any doubt the most promising British prospect at this moment.
Just keep him active for me. 21? No age for a heavy really. Needs time to develop his power but. His game is solid and the team he will have around him, Tyson, Peter etc know what they are doing. Get him in the ring 4 times this year minimum and maybe start getting the likes of ***ton, Cornish in the ring. If AJ vacates the British soon then if I was Hugie id only want to be a fight or two away from it
